Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Trailer Leak Reveals January Demo

A new trailer for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has seemingly leaked, revealing a playable demo that will drop on January 11, one week before the Metroidvania comes to PC, Amazon Luna, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S on January 18, 2024.

The trailer, uploaded by PlayStation Brazil, is no longer accessible, very much suggesting that it may have been uploaded by accident. It seems likely that Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was set to drop tonight as part of this year’s Game Awards, or at the least, sometime in the next few weeks. Of course, some keen-eyed fans, including X/Twitter user @BossBigBoss73, were quick to capture the video and reupload it.

Today’s footage focuses on the story while still giving a few more glimpses at gameplay, including some death-defying platformer sections over and around spike pits. It’s a two-minute trailer that highlights gruesome foes and protagonist Sargon’s stylish combat as well as that aforementioned demo.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was revealed at Summer Games Fest earlier this year as a fresh take on Ubisoft’s classic action-adventure franchise. While the publisher is still hard at work on its Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, The Lost Crown is set to tell a new story with new mechanics and visuals.

In June, we got to go hands-on with the next Prince of Persia game and came away enthusiastic about its potential, saying, “A 2D Metroidvania was not what I expected of a new Prince of Persia game, but The Lost Crown is already proving itself a worthwhile pivot for the series.”

More recently, the project appeared during a Nintendo Direct to show off around one minute of more gameplay and how it will evolve throughout the journey.

Grand Theft Auto Fans Are Already Modding GTA 6’s Lucia Into Other Games

The GTA 6 trailer is just a few days old, but Grand Theft Auto fans are already modding protagonist Lucia into other games.

Taking to popular modding website Nexus Mods to share their creations, fans are trying to trick themselves into thinking GTA 6 is out already by playing as Lucia in other games. While a couple of them make a lot of sense, like past Grand Theft Auto entries, another is a little bit more random.

Nexus Mods user huckpie uploaded their mod for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. “I couldn’t wait for GTA 6 to be released so here you go,” they said, alongside providing a funny little backstory. “Prior to her Bonnie and Clyde-esque escapades with her beau Jason, Lucia has been waiting ten years until Rockstar gets tired of milking GTA 5 dry by practicing the fine art of skateboarding.”

A little more on brand, Lucia was modded into both Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas by Nexus Mods user sergiovandykmods. While Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is perhaps the best looking version of Lucia, the gameplay of these two will obviously provide the closest experience to GTA 6 until it finally releases in 2025.

The GTA 6 trailer — which reintroduces fans to Rockstar’s take on Miami, Vice City — has already broken records, and dwarfed the likes of Cyberpunk 2077’s reveal trailer in terms of views. Lasting 90 seconds, the trailer featured a ton of intricate details (here are 99 things IGN spotted) and plenty of references to wild and wacky real life events too.

While the game was revealed alongside the 2025 release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, PC players were left frustrated, though not necessarily surprised, that their platform was left off the list.

They weren’t the ones a little peeved though, as several developers from Rockstar itself took to social media to express their frustration at the trailer leaking early. In fact, the entire industry shared their disappointment that the exciting moment was dampened. Several streamers were also hit with content strikes and takedowns in the wake of the leak.

How to Trade in Your Old Nintendo Consoles

If you’re looking to trade in your old Nintendo consoles, you can do so at select retailers in-store and online. Often, the most widely available retailers are GameStop and Best Buy. However, you can also trade your used devices online at retailers such as Amazon and Microsoft.

Some retailers will offer you cash for your used goods, while others may provide you with a gift card that can be used in-store and online. This is a great way to offload your old gaming gear and get some money that you can put towards a newer console and games.

While trading devices in at retailers will often net you the lowest amount for your used consoles, there are also online marketplaces such as eBay, Craigslist, and OfferUp that may fetch higher prices, but you’ll often be responsible for packing and shipping costs, or be required to meet someone in person for the transaction, the latter of which poses its own risks.

Where to Trade in Nintendo Switch Games

Similar to Nintendo console trade ins, you can also trade your existing games in at specific retailers. The most widely available retailer accepting used video games is GameStop, but they are notorious for giving you pennies on the dollar for your pre-owned titles. However, if you’re looking for an easy way to offload some of your library for cash or in-store credit, this is a convenient option. You can always look up the expected trade-in value on GameStop’s website before heading into a store, so you know exactly how much you’ll receive. Additionally, you can trade in your used games online through Amazon in exchange for an Amazon gift card.

Where to Buy a PS5 Console Online (December 2023)

It’s been notoriously difficult to get your hands on a PS5 since its launch in late 2020 between industry-wide chip shortages and scalpers reselling consoles for nearly $2,000, but the supply has finally caught up to demand for the most part, and now it’s far more common to see the consoles in stock in-store and online at most retailers.

If you’re looking for the best places to purchase PS5 consoles online in 2023, we’ve got you covered with a full breakdown below, including pricing on current PS5 consoles, the best time to buy a PS5, information on PlayStation Plus plans, as well as where to trade in your exisiting PlayStation consoles and games.

As the name implies, this console requires all of your games to be purchased digitally from the PlayStation Store, as it does not accept any physical media.

How Much Does a PS5 Cost?

There are currently three editions of the PlayStation 5: the standard PlayStation 5 console, the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console, and the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition Slim console. PlayStation Plus Pricing

PlayStation Plus is Sony’s online membership that allows you to play online with your friends, upload your save data to the cloud, as well as granting you access to a handful of free games each month. Last year, Sony added two additional tiers to PlayStation Plus: PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium. These additional tiers provide access to a library of games akin to Xbox Game Pass, with the latter giving you access to classic PlayStation Games and more recent first-party PlayStation titles.

Sony recently raised the prices of all three PlayStation Plus tiers, but announced that PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers will also gain access to a library of movies available to stream through the Sony Pictures Core app.

Here’s what each tier of PlayStation Plus will get you:

PlayStation Plus Essential

PlayStation Plus Essential is effectively what the standard PlayStation Plus experience has been for the past decade or so. This basic plan costs $9.99/month or $79.99/year and allows you to play multiplayer games online with your friends, upload your save data to the cloud, and get exclusive discounts and pricing on games and add-on content. Additionally, you’ll receive a few games each month that can be added to your library and accessed as long as you have an active subscription.

PlayStation Plus Extra

PlayStation Plus Extra costs $14.99/month or $134.99/year and includes everything in the PlayStation Plus Essential tier, while also adding a game catalog featuring hundreds of games that you can download and play, as well as access to a curated collection Ubisoft+ Classics that includes titles from popular Ubisoft franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and more.

PlayStation Plus Premium

PlayStation Plus Premium costs $17.99/month or $159.99/year and includes everything in the PlayStation Plus Extra tier, while also adding access to the Classics catalog – a number of games from PS1, PS2, and PS3 that you can play on your PS5 console. Additionally, you’ll be able to play game trials for specific PS5 games, as well as stream many games from the cloud to your console, PC, and mobile device.

Best Time to Buy a PS5

Generally, the best time to buy a PS5 console is during major yearly shopping events such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the various Amazon Prime Day sales. Although PlayStation consoles rarely go on sale, you can often scoop up limited-time bundles that include additional an additional game or two, and more.

Alone in the Dark Reboot Delayed Once Again, This Time by Over Two Months to Avoid Crunch

The Alone in the Dark reboot is delayed from January 16 to March 20, 2024, publisher THQ Nordic has announced, citing the well-being of its developer.

In a statement, THQ Nordic said hitting the planned January release date would have put developer Pieces Interactive under immense stress during the holiday period.

“The year is coming to an end, and the Christmas holidays are upon us,” the publisher said. “However, until today, it didn’t seem that way for Pieces Interactive, the team developing our upcoming survival-horror game, Alone in the Dark. With our initially planned release date in January 2024, the Christmas season would have been filled with stress and anything but a jolly time for them.

“Therefore, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive have decided to give Alone in the Dark a new release date: March 20, 2024.

“The well-being of the teams is a top priority, and both companies want to avoid any potential crunch over the Christmas holidays. Furthermore, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive want to ensure that the game not only meets but exceeds the expectations of the community, especially with the outstanding performances of Hollywood stars David and Jodie as the main protagonists.

“We understand that many people are eagerly awaiting the release, but your patience will be rewarded. We are thrilled to scare the living daylights out of you on March 20, 2024.”

This isn’t the first time THQ Nordic has delayed Alone in the Dark. In September, the publisher delayed the reboot from October 25, 2023 to January 16, 2024 in a bid to avoid heavy hitters such as Insomniac’s PlayStation 5 exclusive Spider-Man 2.

Alone in the Dark will release for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S when it eventually comes out. In IGN’s Alone in the Dark preview, we said: “In all, the team and motivation seem right to deliver an exciting take on a classic of horror gaming. I’m looking forward to learning more about Alone in the Dark as we get closer to release, and you can bet I’m downloading the free prologue Grace in the Dark right now.”

Looks Like PS1 Game Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace Is Coming to PS Plus Classics

Here’s a blast from the past: PSone game Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace looks set to hit PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 via the PlayStation Plus Classics catalog.

Gematsu spotted a rating for the 1999 adventure in Taiwan, which includes a launch on PS4 and PS5.

A number of old Disney games have hit the PS Plus Classics lineup in recent months, including PSP game Up. Last month, IGN reported on the Taiwan ratings board listing Disney/Pixar Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (PS1), Thrillville: Off the Rails (PSP), and Thrillville (PSP) all for PS4 and PS5. Now we can add Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace to the list.

Sony has yet to announce the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for December, but it won’t be far off.

Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace was developed by and published by LucasArts as an adaptation of the film. It includes a number of familiar settings and characters from Episode I. We weren’t particularly impressed, however, with our Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace review returning a 6.2.

Nintendo Cancels Japanese Esports Events Following Threats to Staff and Spectators

Nintendo has cancelled Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo and postponed other Japanese esports events after persistent threats were made to both staff and spectators.

A Japanese press release, shared by reliable translator Genki on X/Twitter, revealed the “all ages celebration of Nintendo fun”, which took place in the United States for the first time in 2023, has been cancelled and its main esports tournaments postponed.

Nintendo said its employees have received relentless threats which have also recently targeted spectators, attendees, and staff at Nintendo Live 2024, forcing the cancellation in the interest of safety. It was due to take place from January 20 to 21.

The Splatoon Koshien 2023 National Finals, which was due to take place in December 2023, has also been postponed. The events scheduled for Nintendo Live 2024 — the Splatoon 3 World Championship 2024, the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Online Challenge Final Stage, and the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe World Championship 2024 — have obviously been postponed too, all to an undetermined date.

Nintendo apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked fans for their understanding.

The 2023 event, which took place in September in Seattle, Washington featured myriad fan-centric celebrations including opportunities to play incoming Switch games, complete in tournaments, take photos with characters, watch live stage performances, and more.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1 Includes a Devastating Reference to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

CD Projekt Red are tugging at heartstrings again after including a devastating reference to hit anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1.

Fans were very excited over the long requested romantic partner hangouts being added to Cyberpunk 2077 (and are obviously still obsessed with them), but CD Projekt Red targeted them right in the feels with the mission name connected to these meets.

As outlined in IGN’s Cyberpunk 2077 Guide, which details how to trigger the romantic encounters and what they entail, beginning one will start a Main Job called “I Really Want to Stay At Your House”. This is a reference to the song by Rosa Walton and Hallie Coggins, that’s been in Cyberpunk 2077 from the start but greatly grew in popularity after the release of Cyberpunk: Edgeunners in September 2022.

While we won’t spoil what happens in Cyberpunk: Edgeunners, the song appears at some particularly emotional moments.

I Really Want to Stay At Your House also appears as one of the songs players can dance to with their partners. “I realise it’s the name of the gig but did they have to use that song,” said ZawanShin87 on Reddit. “I couldn’t even enjoy Judy’s dancing because I was laughing and crying.”

Another user, IGR777, shared a similar sentiment. “Nice name. Totally didn’t bring back depressing memories,” they said. “I have no reason to leave my apartment anymore,” added Lord9witdafye in another post. “Done with all that merc s**t choom, gonna elope with Panam.”

Update 2.1 adds a lot more than this, of course, as CD Projekt Red also brought the long-requested metro system, new motorbike mechanics, and much more. It even added the infamous sad Keanu Reeves meme.

The full patch notes were shared ahead of its release on December 5, the same day the Ultimate Edition of Cyberpunk 2077 was released. This will be the final big update in Cyberpunk 2077’s long and troubled history, though comes after CD Projekt Red won back the love of its fans following the game’s messy launch.

‘Florida Joker’ Seemingly Referenced in GTA 6 Trailer Responds: ‘GTA, We Gotta Talk’

After being seemingly referenced in this week’s Grand Theft Auto 6 first trailer, Lawrence Sullivan – aka “Florida Joker” – has responded, telling Rockstar “we gotta talk.”

GTA 6 takes place in the state of Leonida, which is basically Rockstar’s version of Florida, and fans quickly noticed a number of real-life, Florida-related references in just the brief 90-second trailer. Among them was what very much seemed to be a reference to Sullivan, a tattoo model who garnered plenty of online attention after his mugshot went viral in 2017. Obviously, he earned the nickname “Florida Joker” due to his green hair and face tattoos.

The GTA version, seen in a quick shot of news footage, is a tad bit different – purple hair instead of green, some different face tattoos – but the similarities are certainly hard to ignore, which Sullivan didn’t. He acknowledged the GTA 6 video in a TikTok posted on Tuesday.

“You know they got that character with the face tattoos, you know who they got that inspired by? By me,” he said. “Just look me up, Florida Joker. You know what I’m talking about.”

“GTA, we gotta talk,” he concluded.

It’s unclear if Sullivan has had any communication with Rockstar (IGN has reached out to him for further comment), but he wouldn’t be the first person to call out GTA for seemingly including their likeness in a game. Perhaps most famously, Lindsay Lohan filed a lawsuit in 2013 against Take-Two for what she claimed was unauthorized use of her likeness for a minor character in GTA 5. The suit, however, was eventually dismissed.

Sullivan’s response is only the latest development in what’s been a whirlwind since the leak, and then the official launch, of the wildly anticipated GTA 6 trailer. In the past few days, it’s been breaking YouTube viewership records and spurring a number of fan theories as fans eagerly await its 2025 release.

Vampire Survivors Announces an Among Us Crossover With New DLC

Last year’s addictive monster-slaying game, Vampire Survivors, is collaborating with Among Us for a new DLC called Emergency Meeting that is set to drop on December 18, 2023.

Developer Poncle announced the latest addition to its indie hit as part of today’s Day of the Devs presentation, revealing the new content with a trailer. It’s a pretty meaty video that debuts new animation that features bosses and imposters alike, and if you stay tuned to the end, you’ll even catch a glimpse of some Crewmate gameplay.

PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S players can expect Vampire Survivors: Emergency Meeting to drop on that December 18 date. However, Nintendo Switch and mobile will have to wait a bit longer. Poncle apologizes for the delay and only promises to release the other versions “soon.”

The team shared more about the indie meet-up project in an FAQ on its website. As might’ve noticed in the trailer, Vampire Survivors: Emergency Meeting adds nine characters, 15 weapons, 20 in-game unlocks, and of course, a new stage based on the world of Among Us. Moreover, Poncle promises to include “a ton of references and elements” from the party game property, adding that players unfamiliar with it can still have a good time regardless.

“No realm or plane of reality is off limits in the universe of Vampire Survivors, so for this one we’re off to the Polus Replica,” Poncle describes. “How did the cast of Vampire Survivors get there? That’s not the question, but we can assure you the gravity is fine, nobody will float off, and the prefab structures are perfectly safe. We can’t make any promises to prevent sabotage or suspect goings on during gameplay, however.”

Crossover events like Vampire Survivors: Emergency Meeting can provide interesting opportunities to blend popular franchises together. However, the fun sometimes comes at a price.

“When entering licensing territory, all businesses, especially large ones, have different guidelines and conditions to follow in order to make a collaboration happen,” Poncle says. “This means that in most cases collab DLCs will be more expensive than normal.”

“We are also trying to be cheeky and find ways to make certain collabs to be available to everyone.

However, the Vampire Survivors team adds that they’re working on more for the future, too: “We are also trying to be cheeky and find ways to make certain collabs to be available to everyone for free though, finger crossed we manage to get there!”

While there are no new achievements in Vampire Survivors: Emergency Meeting, there will be six new music tracks to jam to.

“We’re friends with the wonderful Among Us developers, Innersloth, we had a little chat about the concept of doing a collaborative DLC, did a bunch of paperwork, then a bunch of development work, and the rest is history that you’ll be able to play soon.”

In our Vampire Survivors 1.0 review, we praised Poncle’s concoction of simplistic gameplay and smorgasbord of tools, adding that it managed to suck away “over a hundred hours” of our time. More recently players were treated to update 1.8, which add more roguelike content to keep monster hunters coming back.
