“It’s been really hard to get them to say yes”.

Nintendo has a great track record when it comes to releasing video games with its partners, but not everyone has necessarily found it to be an easy process. Jupiter Corporation – the Japanese developer behind the Picross series on the Switch – recently revealed the difficulties of working with the video game giant.

Speaking to VGC, Jupiter’s managing director Norichika Meguro mentioned how the team was eager to work with Nintendo on a collaborative project to celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary of the Picross series in 2025, but had been having trouble getting the Mario publisher to agree. Soapbox: These Everyday Items Trigger Me Now, And I Blame Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Tears of life.

Soapbox features enable our individual writers and contributors to voice their opinions on hot topics and random stuff they’ve been chewing over. Today, Evan explores the life-ruining properties of TOTK…

It happened in Yellowstone National Park. Removed from society, cruelly separated from cell phone service, I’d embarked, begrudgingly, upon a technology cleanse. I was receiving no texts, no emails, no DMs, no WhatsApps; I had only the park’s sullen, rag-faced buffalo and hypnotic, deadly thermal pools to keep me company. Ultimately, the lack of contact was transformative, healing; it allowed me to be present and to engage all of my senses. Then, one day, during a particularly meditative hike, I noticed an innocuous pile of lumber along a trail.

Dev kits are apparently now with ‘key partner studios’.

Thanks to VGC, it looks like development kits for Nintendo’s next console are now with “key partner studios”, with multiple sources claiming that Nintendo is aiming to release the final product in the second half of 2024. This is supposedly to avoid any stock shortages that plagued the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S when they both launched back in 2021.
