Opinion: I Didn’t Realise How Much I’d Missed ‘Traditional’ Zelda Dungeons

(Boss) Key to my heart.

Last year, hot off the back of Tears of the Kingdom, I wrote a piece expressing my love for Zelda’s ‘Modern’ dungeons. These puzzle-centric areas had been a little hit or miss, sure, but I found that there was a lot to like in each once I got past the general terminal-activation-ness of it all.

I thought I was over Zelda’s ‘Classic’ dungeon format — moving from one room to another via a series of puzzles, opening chests of increasingly flamboyant design and picking up unique items along the way. I thought the series was striding towards something new and I was excited by the prospect of that. I thought the Divine Beast formula was the future and I was ready to welcome it with open arms.

Castlevania Dev Steps Down From Bloodstained 2 After Cancer Diagnosis

“It is a great blow to have him step away from the project”.

Shuntaro Ida, a veteran designer on the Castlevania franchise and director of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, has sadly stepped down from the development of Bloodstained 2 following a cancer diagnosis.

Ida announced his decision on social media (thanks, VGC), stating that although he had already come up with ideas for the upcoming game, he will pass these on to others while he receives treatment. Koji Igarashi, long-time producer of the Castevania series, reposted this message to express his sadness while wishing Ida a quick recovery.

Shadow’s Sonic Generations Campaign Runtime Reportedly Revealed

The Switch release is fast approaching.

Sonic X Shadow Generations is fast approaching and it seems we might now have a rough idea of just how long the new Shadow campaign will be.

During a chat with Famitsu at the Tokyo Game Show recently, producer Shun Nakamura mentioned how the new Shadow-themed adventure would apparently be around the same length or possibly a little less than the main Sonic Generations offering (translation via ResetEra).

Hunter x Hunter’s Fighting Game Delayed Until Next Year, Now Adding Rollback Netcode

“We made this decision out of concern”.

We’ve got some good and bad news fighting game fans. If you were looking forward to the arrival of Hunter X Hunter: Nen x Impact (based on the anime and manga series), Arc System Works has now announced it’s delayed the launch until 2025.

According to a translation by the Arc System Works social account, this delay is to allow the team to implement rollback netcode. The release date will now be shared at a “later time”, so when we get an update, we’ll let you know. Here’s the full message:

Dragon Quest Creator Chimes In On Characters Showing Less Skin In Upcoming HD-2D Remake

“I really wonder, who’s even complaining about this?

Ahead of the release of Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake this November, series’ creator Yuji Horii has addressed the changes to the female characters in the game, who are now showing less skin than the original version of the game.

Speaking during an interview at the Tokyo Game Show (and translated by Valuate News), Horii admits he’s just as confused by the changes to the late Akira Toriyama’s artwork, but goes on to explain how if there’s “too much exposure, the age rating goes up” and it means the game can’t be sold to “all-ages”.
