It’s meant to be all about Echoes of Wisdom this week, but there are also some celebrations currently taking place for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
A year after its release, Link’s massive open-world sequel outing has now taken out the “grand award” at Japan’s Game Awards for 2024. This award was accepted by series producer Eiji Aonuma and the game’s director Hidemaro Fujibayashi.

Strange things are afoot.
At first glance, Bloomtown: A Different Story looks like a charming addition to the world of slice-of-life RPGs, with its cosy pixel art style and comforting soundtrack.
It kicks off with two siblings, Emily and Chester, being sent to their grandad’s house for summer break in the 1960s. They’re frustrated about going, complaining that there’ll be nothing to do in sleepy Bloomtown and that they’d rather stay in Chicago. As soon as they start settling in, though, it becomes apparent that Bloomtown has a lot more to it than initially meets the eye.

As puzzling as ever.
It has been a while since we’ve seen Professor Layton and his protege Luke. For a while, the mind-bending puzzle series seemed like a Nintendo mainstay – at least on the DS and 3DS. The last game starred Katrielle Layton, the daughter of the titular Professor, and received rather mixed reviews when it came out for 3DS in 2017 and on Switch a couple of years later in Deluxe form.
This makes Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, releasing sometime in 2025, not only the first series entry for a while but also a return-to-the-roots adventure with the Professor himself back in the leading role, meaning we were especially looking forward to trying it out on the show floor at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.

In case you missed it, the Arc System Works fighter Guilty Gear Strive is on its way to the Nintendo Switch next year.
Ahead of this launch, the developer has shared a “first in-game look” at Queen Dizzy, a new Season 4 DLC fighter launching on 31st October 2024 in existing versions of the game. The Switch version will launch with 28 playable characters.

“We have no intention of expanding”.
The Nintendo Museum looks amazing but it’s located in Japan and not everybody will be able to make the trip. So, is there a chance of Nintendo opening more museums outside of its homeland?
Well, as you can see in the headline, according to Miyamoto it won’t be happening. In a recent Game Watch interview, the Nintendo legend mentioned how the company had “no intention” of expanding the museum to other locations.

Music to our ears.
AI is, for better or worse, one of the hot topics of 2024. It’s bloomin’ everywhere at the moment. Naturally, there’s a lot of speculation on whether major video game companies will implement the technology into their work (and many, it seems, already have), but Nintendo fans will no doubt be delighted to hear that the Japanese firm may be steering its ship in a completely different direction.
In fact, famed creator Shigeru Miyamoto pretty much said as much during a recent interview with The New York Times (thanks, IGN). In discussing Nintendo’s ongoing approach with game development, he mentioned AI as a key topic that the company is aware of, but perhaps not interested in pursuing (at least, not in the same way as its peers).

Just the other day, Atari and developer Digital Eclipse announced that a new paid DLC expansion for Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration would be launching, er, tomorrow (that’s 26th September 2024).
Now, thanks to a reveal YouTube MetalJesusRocks, we now have a complete view of every new game being added to the new content in addition to some more of that lovely timeline loveliness. There are 19 titles in total, though there are a few, shall we say, “duplicates” (not really duplicates, but you get what we mean).
