Apocalypse wow.

Update : Set your doomsday clocks, folks, because Splatoon 3’s end-of-the-world Splatfest gets underway this weekend.

The event will be kicking off on 18th May (17th in North America) and asks the surprisingly dark question, “What would you do at the world’s end?“. Be sure to head over to the polling station in Splatsville Square to cast your vote for either Team Same Ol’, Bucket List or Save the Day and then prepare yourself for a weekend of splatting.

The famous five.

Publisher Spike Chunsoft has announced that it is bringing the popular anime and manga series ‘The Quintessential Quintuplets‘ to Switch on 23rd May in the form of two brand-new visual novels.

The Quintessential Quintuplets – Memories of a Quintessential Summer and The Quintessential Quintuplets – Five Memories Spent With You will be available both individually (for £28.99 / £34.99) and as part of a Double Pack (£49.99 / $59.99) when they arrive on the Switch eShop next week.

The Deluxe Edition comes with a new outfit set.

In case you missed the original announcement in April, Luffy and his pirate crew are sailing onto the Nintendo Switch this July in One Piece Odyssey.

In the leadup to the game’s release, Bandai Namco has now shared the “in-game opening movie” straight from the Switch version. This includes another look at the Deluxe Edition which will come with an additional scenario “reunion of memories”, a traveling outfit set, and the newly added “city of water outfit set” for the Switch version.

A release could still be “quite far”.

It’s been a while since the previous Deltarune update, and now the creator Toby Fox (who is also known for Undertale) has sent out a “Spring 2024” newsletter, detailing the latest progress.

Following on from Chapter 3, the latest news is development on Chapter 4 is “going better than ever”. He’s hired “a few more people” to help out and the team is on track to meet its internal deadline:

A monster medley.

Dave The Diver‘s next free DLC is just on the horizon, and you better get running, because a kaiju is on the loose.

Godzilla will be stomping its way into the Blue Hole next week, on 23rd May, developer Mintrocket has announced. However, at the bottom of a detailed blog post over on PlayStation.Blog, there’s a little asterisk mentioning that the “Godzilla Content Pack is a time-limited free DLC, only available from May 23 until November 23 “. It isn’t quite clear whether it will only be available during that period or will be paid DLC after this period. Still, if you nab it next week, it’ll be free! So it’s time to dive in.

If you cast your mind back to April, you might remember that the dice-based tactical RPG Dicefolk was confirmed to be coming to Switch. One month on, publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment and developers LEAP Game Studios and Tiny Ghoul have announced that this monster-catching roguelike will be heading our way on 20th June.

There are a lot of different genre terms going on here, so if you haven’t come across Dicefolk before, we’ll do our best to break it down for you (but you should also check out the above explanatory trailer, of course).

BIG Big Run?!

Nintendo has just revealed our first look at Splatoon 3‘s ‘Sizzle Season 2024’ update, and it looks like it is going to be a big one.

Kicking off on 1st June, the annual Sizzle Season will bring with it a handful of new weapons and stages as well as a variation on the Big Run game mode called ‘BIG Big Run’. Yes, really.

The final frontend.

Last month, Apple slightly relaxed its stance on game emulation. Naturally, the ensuing weeks saw emulators added and taken down from the iOS App Store as developers attempted to feel out Apple’s copyright policies and now, there’s a new multisystem addition to the pile (thanks, The Verge).

RetroArch, a frontend app for game emulation, was added to the iOS App Store on 15th May and provides access to over 75 system emulators including 22 variants for Nintendo consoles at the time of writing.

The Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition was recently announced for the Switch and as part of this there will be a special ‘Deluxe Set’ released, containing a physical game card, a set of five pins, 13 art cards, and a gold coloured replica NES cartridge.

Nintendo has now released a new trailer showing off this ‘Deluxe Set’ and it’s got us wondering if anyone in the Nintendo Life will be picking it up, and who has been able to successfully secure a pre-order so far. So vote in our poll and leave a comment below.
