It’s the weekend folks, which means it’s time to find out which games we’ll be sinking a few hours into. Before that, however, let’s check out a recap of what’s been going down this week.

First up, we found out that the Switch might have an even bigger task ahead of it if we want it to become the best-selling console of all time. Weird… Elsewhere, the Japanese clothing retailer Uniqlo officially revealed a rather fetching Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom range, and we also caught wind of an intriguing patent from Nintendo to ease those ‘troublesome’ Switch dock wires.

Pie for Breakfast and Mega Cat Studios have today launched their brand new retro-style adventure game Kudzu. Heavily inspired by classic Zelda — particularly the Oracle games and Link’s Awakening — you can nab this title on the Switch eShop or Game Boy.

When Nintendo announced that the Super Nintendo World attraction in Japan would be receiving a Donkey Kong expansion in Spring 2024, our hearts nearly leapt out of our chests.

Well, it’s Spring 2024 uh, now, so it must be nearing completion, right? Right. Judging from the above footage recorded by YouTube channel L.C.A.STUDIOS (USJ Information Bureau), the expansion looks like it’s basically done at this point, with the flagship rollercoaster ride being tested to ensure its safety.

Deep dive.

Nintendo yesterday dropped new details about the upcoming Switch release Endless Ocean Luminous, and now it’s released a new ASMR-like video highlighting the “sights and sounds” of the game.

This video is almost four minutes in length, and as you listen to it, you’ll be able to hear all the sounds of the ocean, straight out of the game.

This week’s Japanese charts are in from Famitsu (via Gematsu) and Nintendo’s latest release once again finds itself sitting on the throne.

Yes, Princess Peach: Showtime! is number one again this week, though its additional 27,258 sales are nothing compared to its 77,562 debut. The PS5’s Rise of the Ronin has, uhh, risen to number two this time, kicking last week’s silver medallist, Dragon’s Dogma II, down into fifth.

Nintendo has today revealed the Japanese website for Endless Ocean Luminous, containing new details of what we can expect from the diving sim when it makes a splash on Switch on 2nd May.

The Japanese website is (shockingly) in Japanese, though TokyoGameLife has translated the newly revealed features so that we can see what’s in store.

SEGA is still showing support for last year’s side-scroller Sonic Superstars with all sorts of DLC, and the latest promotion is a new collaboration with the restaurant chain IHOP to unlock an exclusive Amy outfit.

According to the official PR, loyalty members can earn ‘PanCoins’ and redeem them for an exclusive Amy Rose outfit until 5th May. Any purchase with an IHOP account will unlock this offer. Of course, the catch is you’ll need to be located in North America, as codes are region-locked.
