We have known about the Idris Elba-led Knuckles TV series for a while now, but today we have got our first real look at what’s in store thanks to a new trailer from Paramount.

The “six-episode streaming event” — whatever happened to ‘series’? — will air on Paramount+ on 26th April and is set to serve as a spin-off to the two (soon to be three) live-action Sonic movies.

With rumours of a potential Switch successor landing in 2024, there’s much talk on exactly what the system will entail and whether it will retain the overall concept of Nintendo’s hybrid console.

One of the most recent rumours doing the rounds is regarding the console’s screen size, with one analyst noting that it will likely come packing an 8-inch LCD screen. This is a full inch larger than the current Switch – OLED Model, and Digital Foundry has discussed the potential implications this might have on the successor’s form factor and Joy-Con compatibility.

Microsoft’s Xbox Layoffs Hit Crash Bandicoot And Spyro Developer ‘Toys For Bob’

It reportedly includes an office closure.

Just weeks ago, Xbox’s owner Microsoft announced mass layoffs, and now in an update, it seems the Crash Bandicoot, Spyro and Skylanders developer Toys for Bob has been hit.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, 86 workers will be affected at the developer’s office in Novato, California. A state filing has also revealed the facility is closing.

EVO Would Happily Welcome Back Smash Bros. Tournaments

“Always happy to host Smash”.

The fighting game championship series EVO this week revealed its roster for 2024 and it features the usual mix of Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and various other notable fighting series. Unfortunately, one popular all-star series that’s been missing for a few years now is Smash Bros. by Nintendo.

Nintendo withdrew from EVO in 2022 after Sony jointly acquired the event in 2021, and while EVO issued its statement at the time about how “saddened” it was by Nintendo’s decision, it’s apparently still happy to welcome it back with open arms.

LEGO 2K Drive & NBA 2K Dev Visual Concepts Austin Hit By Layoffs

2K & Take-Two make cuts.

The video game industry continues to suffer from layoffs, with Visual Concepts Austin becoming the latest studio hit with cuts, Game Developer reports (via Eurogamer).

The 2K Games and Take-Two division based in Austin, Texas already reportedly laid off a number of staff back in September 2023, and Game Developer spotted this latest round via a LinkedIn post from art manager Brad Bowling, who started his post with “Well…the games industry bloodletting continues.”

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe & Splatoon 3 World Championships Get Rescheduled

Now taking place in April.

Nintendo has finally announced brand new dates for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the Splatoon 3 World Championships, which were both originally meant to take place at Nintendo Live 2024 in Tokyo.

Nintendo shared the new dates on Twitter, with the championships for both games now taking place on 13th April (for Splatoon 3) and 14th April 2024 (for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe). The events will be streamed, with Nintendo to announce details later on.

Just in time for Super Bowl weekend, Saber Interactive has today announced a new wave of DLC for its arcade gridiron title, Wild Card Football.

The ‘Legacy QB Pack’ is pretty much what you would expect, adding four legendary quarterbacks for you to slot into your lineup. Included this time are Warren Moon, Steve Young, Kurt Warner and Randall Cunningham, each of whom comes with their own unique outfits.

Random: Watch Switch’s Best-Selling Games Compete In This Neat Timeline Race

Thanks to yesterday’s quarterly financial results from Nintendo, we have updated figures for the company’s best-selling games on Switch. These numbers are perfectly interesting to look at in list form, but you know what would be more interesting? A fun graph, of course!

One creative on the YouTube channel Pierre485 has done just that and has turned Nintendo’s list of numbers into a bar chart race that documents the ever-changing order of the Switch’s best-sellers.

Sifu Developer Teases “A Few Surprises” For Second Anniversary

“It’s that time of the year again”.

The well-executed beat ’em up rogulike Sifu is teasing some surprises for its second anniversary, even though the developer rolled out the final content update on Switch last November.

In a brief message via social media, Sloclap said it had some “surprises” to share over the coming days, beginning with the anniversary on 10th February (that’s later this week).
