The Switch “successor” is on the horizon…
The Switch has an extensive library of games covering all sorts of franchises and while it’s got plenty of Final Fantasy titles nowadays, one game still missing in this particular series is Square Enix’s massive (and highly successful) multiplayer role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV Online. So will we ever see it on a Nintendo system?
Game director and producer Naoki Yoshida (also known as Yoshi-P) was recently asked by Easy Allies about the possibility of a Nintendo release and mentioned how he wants to see the game available on as many devices as possible in the long run. This apparently includes Nintendo’s hardware, and at the rate it’s going, the new target could potentially be the Switch’s “successor”.

Shovel of Hope DX, DLC, updates… the list goes on!
Alongside the new game announcement at the special Shovel Knight 10th anniversary broadcast, Yacht Club games also announced a whole bunch of other new content on the way. We’re talking about a new enhanced version of the original game, Shovel Knight DLC, an update on Mina The Hollower, and much more.

The people were amazing. The variety of games, both big and small, were amazing. I was lucky enough to go to E3 twice back when I wrote for a different site, and I would take the laid-back vibes, the layout, and the ability to socialise at my own pace any day of the week over the crowded convention centre of E3.

The debate about which is the best football video game is one that has raged on for decades.
Until now, there hasn’t really been much of a choice on Switch. There’s EA Sports FC (which thankfully, finally, is worth getting now), but with Konami’s eFootball (formerly PES) nowhere in sight, the other options are arcade-style indie games whose quality varies wildly.

Masahiro Sakurai is back talking about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on his YouTube channel (what do you know!). This time, the focus is on collision animations and how it’s more of a collaborative effort than you might expect.
Those who have been paying attention to the legendary game designer’s videos over the past two years will be no stranger to the importance of the Smash roster’s silhouettes and in today’s update, Sakurai lays out how this side-on image is even tied to the way the game feels when it comes to landing punches.

Ubisoft confirmed ’20th Anniversary Edition’ in 2023.
Ubisoft has been pretty quiet on the upcoming launch of Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition. However, the discovery of the game’s trophies via Exophase (thanks, VGC) may indicate that its release is just around the corner.
It would make sense too, right? With Nintendo confirming a Direct showcase to be aired at some point this month, Beyond Good & Evil feels like the perfect game to crop up during the presentation. Ubisoft also confirmed that it would be released in ‘early 2024’, but since we’re arguably well beyond that point now, we feel it could drop on the Switch eShop at any point.

There have been ongoing rumours about Square Enix’s series Final Fantasy Tactics making a return after some leaks in 2021 and we’ve now got a small update.
If you were wondering what the status is on this supposed project, according to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, it’s “real and happening”. He provided this update on the ‘GamingLeaksAndRumours‘ subreddit a few days ago (thanks for the heads up, Push Square).

The legendary zombie hunter Juliet returns.
We first heard Lollipop Chainsaw would be getting a remake back in 2022, and now the first official trailer for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has dropped, confirming it will arrive for Switch and multiple other platforms on 25th September 2024.
This updated version of the Grasshopper Manufacture title, by developer Dragami Games, is described as the definitive version of the game, leaving the story unchanged and instead focusing on quality-of-life improvements and additional gameplay content. The scene is set in the first trailer above which features the legendary zombie hunter Juliet.
