Review: PowerA Advantage Wired Controller For Switch 2 – An Acceptable Choice For Player 2

Lighter than air.

Like the Switch 1 before it, the Switch 2 will no doubt play host to dozens of third-party controllers over the course of its (hopefully) long lifespan. First out of the gate is PowerA with its Advantage Wired Controller, which I received in a rather jovial Mario Time theme. You can also get a Mushroom Kingdom themed variant along with a standard black design – y’know, if you’re boring (joking!).

Boasting a similar layout to Nintendo’s official Pro Controller, the Advantage pad features offset analogue sticks, two mappable ‘AGL’ and ‘AGR’ buttons on the backside, and a handy headphone jack on the bottom. Really, the only major change in terms of layout is the placement of the start, select, home, GameChat, and capture buttons, which are all housed beneath the d-pad and right analogue stick.

Video: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Technical Analysis Of Street Fighter 6 On Switch 2

“Switch 2 punches well above its weight”.

Switch 2 arrived with a bunch of titles that had to perform well if they were going to be worth your time. Arguably, none were more in need of a silky smooth frame rate than Street Fighter 6: Years 1-2 Fighters Edition, which had to be top notch if it was ever going to appeal to the fighting fans.

We had a blast with the title in our review last month, with the performance in all modes (apart from World Tour) being a particular highlight. But for those who want the specific numbers, the experts over at Digital Foundry have finally joined the fight to give a detailed rundown of all the tech specs in Capcom’s latest.

Dave The Diver Director Says “There’s Nothing Indie” About Hit Game

Mintrocket “didn’t apply” for controversial Best Independent Game nom.

Dave The Diver is undoubtedly one of the best games of 2023, but it found itself caught in a bit of a storm during awards season as at The Game Awards of that year, the fantastic diving game and restaurant management sim was nominated for Best Independent Game, despite it being created by a subsidiary of the huge South Korean developer and publisher Nexon.

Now Mintrocket CEO and writer and director on the game, Jaeho Hwang, has directly addressed the controversy in an interview with 4Gamer (translated by Automaton Media), stating that “it’s not like we applied for the award ourselves.”

After Croc, Argonaut Games Wants To Remaster This N64 Cult Classic

“Bump to the bump to the Bumble”.

Argonaut Games may be basking in the aftermath of the return of Croc, but the British-based developer isn’t done revisiting its back-catalogue just yet. The newly-revived studio, who returned last year after being dissolved in 2007, are particularly keen to revisit an N64 cult classic: Buck Bumble.

Speaking in the latest issue of the MCV Develop magazine (via VGC), CEO and co-founder Jez San and Mike Arkin listed off a handful of titles the team, originally called Argonaut Software, worked on during its initial stint — Starglider (“it’s my ‘first-born’” San explains) and I-Ninja both came up, but a certain third-person shooter stuck out to us, and others, the most.
