Rumoured Plants vs. Zombies Remaster Potentially Releasing On Switch This Year

Not a pea shooter.

A Plants vs. Zombies remaster is potentially on the horizon, and it might be releasing as early as October, a new rumour suggests.

Reported by Dealabs and Billbil-Kun (via Push Square), the remaster is reportedly called Plants vs. Zombies Replanted — which could be related to the Brazilian age rating of Reloaded, discovered earlier this year.

Donkey Kong Bananza Takes Inspiration From Dark Souls For These Gold Statues

You Refined.

Donkey Kong Bananza is stuffed full of amazing little details and references, and thanks to some chatter online, we’ve discovered yet another incredible detail that takes more than a little soul from… well, Dark Souls.

On social media, we spotted a thread from the donkeykong subreddit being shared which revealed to us that, if you die in DK’s latest adventure — whether it be to an enemy, in the lava, or by taking too much damage in any of the standard layer levels (not the challenges) — DK’s corpse will be left waiting in a mound of gold.

Review: Patapon 1+2 Replay (Switch) – A Pleasing Return For Some PSP Charmers

Drumroll, please.

Ever since I was a kid stomping his feet to pop songs in Dance Dance Revolution and getting pep talks from PaRappa the Rapper about how I gotta believe, I’ve been a fan of rhythm games. And while I love popular juggernauts in the genre like Guitar Hero, I’ll always prefer something with more originality than just simply holding down a button, such as Final Fantasy Theatrhythm.

Cue Patapon, a quirky blend of rhythm and strategy originality released exclusively on Sony’s PSP and now out on other platforms thanks to Bandai Namco. You play as a god to the charming Smurf-esque creatures and use drums to direct them during missions. Your controller buttons correspond to a rhythmic phrase. Want them to move forward? That’s easy! Pata pata pata pon! Need to attack? No problem; just hit ‘em with a pon pon pata pon combo. Keep the beat going and you’ll enter into a Fever, which increases your attack and defence.

Doronko Wanko Trots Onto Switch Today

Excuse me?

We reported on Bandai Namco’s naughty pup simulator, Doronko Wanko, back in December of last year, and not just because we were worried about what exactly this particular canine might be up to.

As it turns out, this very bold, but very cute, little doggy — who’s name actually derives from わんこ Wan ko, which is an informal or cute way of saying dog or puppy in Japanese — is into wrecking the place, messing up his owner’s stuff and causing havoc. Suddenly we are very, very interested.

Random: Donkey Kong Bananza Players Are Already Skipping Layers And Transformations

It’s a race to the top, no wait, the botto…no wait, the core!

We’ve been absolutely addicted to Donkey Kong Bananza over the past week or so and various members of the team are, as expected, at different points along the way in the adventure. Some, like this writer, are still fairly early on in DK’s latest outing, whilst others, such as our very own Liam Doolan, are already done with the thing. No messing around there!

Now, very mild spoilers ahead, but by way of some of the old ‘water-cooler’ banter (proving once and for all that such a thing can even exist betwixt online colleagues), Liam shared with us that he’d actually managed to complete the game without unlocking one of Donkey Kong’s transformations.

Review: Wild Hearts S (Switch 2) – Monster Hunting That’s Satisfying, If Unspectacular

Take a ride on the wild side.

Capcom effectively created a new genre with its famed Monster Hunter series back in the sixth generation of game consoles, and though many challengers over the years (such as Dauntless and God Eater) have since tried to get a piece of its pie, nobody has quite managed to recreate its distinct magic. Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force (of Dynasty Warriors fame) then decided to try its hand in 2023 with the release of Wild Hearts, but the game never really got too far off the ground despite positive reception from both fans and critics.

Now that the Switch 2 has come out, KT has decided to try giving its latest monster hunting foray another shot at success with Wild Hearts S, a modest revisit that’s taking advantage of the distinct Monster Hunter-shaped hole in the Switch 2’s launch window library. Though it isn’t the roaring revival that some may have hoped it to be, Wild Hearts S still proves to be an enjoyable and engaging monster-hunting action game and one that I’d suggest newcomers look into.
