New gen, new look.

Since announcing the Switch 2, Nintendo has been updating its services, storefronts and even merch to reflect this new generation. Now, in the latest update, Switch to eShop cards are reportedly getting a “visual refresh”.

Some of these new eShop cards have apparently already been shared on social media and it seems Nintendo will be releasing different-priced eShop cards with some updated character art. Noticeably, this also includes Donkey Kong’s new look. Here’s a sneak peek courtesy of ‘Portal Super Mario’:

The fun begins with Undertale.

Nintendo’s Switch Online game trials aren’t always the biggest reveals, but in Japan this month, Nintendo will be doing something a little bit different. Between 2nd May until 25th May, there’ll be four surprise trials released.

The first one has been revealed as Toby Fox’s Undertale game, with his next lot of chapters for Deltarune recently confirmed to be arriving this June. This first trial for May will run until the 4th and will be followed by the next three games – scheduled for the following dates:

A refreshed crop.

“After your Expedition, check out The Hundred Line”.

Goodness gracious, RPG fans have been spoiled over the past few years, right? In fact, let’s point to last week specifically. In the space of two days, three huge RPGs launched across various platforms — Oblivion Remastered, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and, for those of us with a Switch, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy.

Those latter two launched on the same day, with Expedition 33 seemingly getting the lion’s share of the attention on social media. But those who have played The Hundred Line, the latest game from Kotaro Uchikoshi and Kazutaka Kodaka (of Zero Escape and Danganronpa fame) cannot stop raving about it. Including the director of Expedition 33, Guillaume Broch.

After years of being stranded on the GameCube, F-Zero GX is finally seeing the light of day via a new batch of GameCube games for Nintendo Switch Online on the Switch 2.

Now, Nintendo has shared some additional footage of the upcoming release via the Nintendo Today! app, which has been kindly shared online by TodayNews. In it, we get a good glimpse at the game’s Story Mode, featuring various clips of cutscenes along with some juicy gameplay.

And it’s right around the corner!

We’ve been eagerly awaiting news of the Sea of Stars ‘Throes of the Watchmaker’ DLC ever since Sabotage Studios first teased it in early 2024, and now, we finally have a release date.

The excellent retro-inspired RPG will land its free DLC on 20th May, adding an extra eight-hour adventure that features new characters, worlds, puzzles and a cinematic budget equivalent to that used on the main game. In short, it’s quite a beefy sausage.

Y’know… just in case.

Virtual Game Cards is now a thing for the Nintendo Switch, letting you easily ‘eject and load’ titles from one console to another and lend digital games to family and friends, while providing a more elegant solution to redownloading your eShop games.

One small, yet notable addition includes the ability to hide your Virtual Game Cards. So if there’s anything in your collection that might be, shall we say, unsavoury to some, then you can simply hide it from view.

Take a drive down memory lane.

It’s a big year for racing games in more ways than one and apart from the new open-world Mario Kart game, Sega will also be releasing its new Sonic Racing game.

In the leadup to this game’s release, it’s now uploaded a video (with narration by the YouTuber Sam Procrastinates) covering “the history of Sonic Racing”. This video highlights every notable Sonic Racing release starting with the 1994 Game Gear release Sonic Drift, before moving on to Sonic R and then going on to cover more of the modern entries including Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

Between 300 to 400 people have lost their job.

Electronic Arts is reportedly laying off between 300-400 staff, with 100 of those coming from Apex Legends and Star Wars: Jedi developer Respawn, Bloomberg reports.

A spokesperson for EA told the publication that the Redwood City, California-based company has “made select changes within our organization that more effectively aligns teams and allocates resources in service of driving future growth.”
