Update: Launching this August.

If you played the Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles video game and were wondering when Tanjiro and his demon-slaying buddies would be returning, we’ve got an update.

Aniplex has announced the second chapter of this game – officially titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2. It will be playable at Japan’s Jump Fest this year (taking place between 21st and 22nd December 2024). The second chapter will cover the Entertainment District Arc and follow through to the Hashira Training Arc.

The time has come for another Catch-up Crew mission, a regular assignment that sees cadets playing games for the first time – games long since played by other officers. Through their eyes, NL’s senior staff gain fresh insight and a better understanding of not only those classic games, but also ourselves. Mainly the games, though.

Today, we visit a 32-bit installation with Metal Gear Solid. For anyone looking to (re)play along, it’s available on Switch as part of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Version Vol. 1, or as a standalone download.

Good news, Hero.

At the beginning of February, Square Enix announced it would be “temporarily removing” Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition from the Switch eShop to make some “minor adjustments to the store listing.

In an update on social media, the official Dragon Quest account has now confirmed the game has made its digital return on Nintendo’s hybrid platform, and it’s now available at a “permanently reduced price” of $39.99/ £34.99/ €39.99.

Super Soccer will “no longer be available”.

Following yesterday’s update about the removal of Super Formation Soccer from the Switch Online Super Famicom service in Japan, Nintendo has now confirmed the local version of the game will also “no longer be available” later this month.

The official game page for Super Soccer on the Switch Online Super Nintendo service notes how this title will be removed from this digital game library on 27th March 2025 (or 28th March, depending on your location). The title is listed as a Spike Chunsoft release.

A pirate’s life for me.

After a pretty meaty delay (happy end of the week, everyone!), we finally have an updated look at the UK physical gaming charts, and it’s a relatively quiet one for Nintendo.

A couple of new releases have squeezed their way into the top 40 this week, with Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii snatching silver and Dog Man: Mission Impawsible landing in 28th.

Try to stop it all you can, we are rapidly approaching the Minecraft Movie‘s release date on 4th April and even the new ‘Final Trailer’ hasn’t convinced us about Jack Black’s latest trip into the world of video games.

The new trailer does pack in a lot of new content, we’ll admit. There are baby pandas, talking Piglins, some pretty horrific-looking villagers, Elytra wingsuits and enough exposition that we can almost map out the entire plot of the film beat for beat.

Strong sails.

Yesterday’s Pokémon chatter meant that we had to put Famitsu‘s Japanese charts on the backburner for a minute, but fear not, here they are!

It has been a big one for Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, with SEGA’s latest wacky RPG claiming the top two spots in its debut week as PS5 and PS4 sales (or should that be ‘sails’?) combined for a little over 105,000 units.
