“It’s just a question of when, not if”.
Not everyone got to experience the joy of the GameCube generation, but a new rumour has renewed hopes this past Nintendo system might finally make a return.
According to podcaster ‘Nate the Hate’, who previously revealed Game Boy and Nintendo 64 updates for the Switch Online, he now appears to be teasing GameCube for Nintendo’s subscription service within possibly the “first launch year” of the Switch 2’s life.

Digital Foundry investigates.
Nintendo gave us another glimpse of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond during the Switch Direct last week and some fans have been so impressed with the visuals on display they are convinced it’s footage of the game running on Switch 2.
If you, or anyone else you know are feeling the same way about what you’re seeing, you might want to watch this latest clip from the team at Digital Foundry – perhaps unsurprisingly confirming there’s no actual Switch 2 footage on display here.

Are you Keenan this one?
It seems as though the much-anticipated Xbox handheld, codename “Keenan”, has been revealed by its maker, Asus.

Lunar landing.
Switch 2 is tantalisingly close – at least, more details about Switch 2 are tantalisingly close, with the Switch 2 Nintendo Direct coming on 2nd April. We’re hoping for a date, a price, a huge slate of games, the works!
But even with all the info and excitement, there’s a good chance the console itself won’t be launching for a few months yet. Fortunately, Switch has still got some gas in the tank, with some genuinely brilliant-looking games scheduled to launch over the next couple of months.

Revolutionise your free time.
Gaming is wonderful, isn’t it? It’s an escape, it’s a relaxation method, it’s a chance to bravely step out in someone else’s shoes. It’s also a massive waste of time.
This hobby has kept us all thoroughly entertained for the past 50 years, but the world is changing; life isn’t what it used to be and 100+ hour RPGs, ever-updating live service games and three Atelier releases a month mean it’s difficult to keep up. That’s where PLAYi comes in.

Third-party games will reportedly be the second stage.
Ahead of Nintendo’s Switch 2 broadcast this week, new reports and rumours about third-party access to development kits have emerged. This follows a report last week claiming the Switch 2 would have a “3-phase” launch plan, with third-party games reportedly the second stage.
According to Digital Foundry’s John Linneman, he’s heard “many developers” are still without a kit – especially “medium to small developers” and Nintendo is apparently being “very selective” about who has access to the new hardware.

Double the boost power with two more F-Zero albums.
Nintendo’s weekly album update has arrived for the Nintendo Music app and this time it’s loaded with high-speed beats from the F-Zero series.
Included this week is the SNES soundtrack for F-Zero and along with this is the album for the 64DD F-Zero X Expansion Kit. And if you’re wondering, the original N64 F-Zero soundtrack was added to the service last November. Here’s the full list of songs included in both soundtracks:

Unofficial PC ports to get mods & performance boosts.
By this point, you’re probably well aware of N64 Recompiled which, in basic terms, allows N64 games to be played on PC by natively running the game’s code on your target platform. Most recently, we’ve seen Majora’s Mask get a “PC port” thanks to the project.
And it sounds like things are expanding even more, as Wes Fenlon, author of newsletter Read Only Memo, has caught up with the program’s creator, Wiseguy, to discuss what’s coming in a “re-debut” (spotted via Android Authority).
