Revisiting Chapters of the Chosen.

As a beloved RPG series in Japan, Dragon Quest took a pretty long time to make waves in the West. In Japan, games in the mainline series get released on the weekends to stop people skipping work and school, and the franchise has sold millions just in its native home.

Dragon Quest XI changed that. Originally launched in Japan on PS4 and 3DS in 2017, with a Western release following in 2018, it received critical acclaim and is often considered one of the best modern-day turn-based RPGs. The Switch Definitive Edition in 2019 helped spread the love for the charming JRPG series more, and that game alone has sold over six million copies worldwide.

Game’s tech may be “beyond” the next console.

In a recent Q&A video from Digital Foundry focused on the newly announced Grand Theft Auto 6, the team was unanimous in its opinion that the game will likely not be coming to Nintendo’s next major hardware.

Although it’s true that the official specs for the ‘Switch 2’ have not yet been confirmed, Digital Foundry has previously presented a comprehensive dive into how the console will hypothetically perform based on multiple Nvidia chip rumours.

Back in July of this year, Nintendo teased a special new feature for Splatoon 3 called ‘Tournament Manager’. It followed with an early release version in November and now it’s been officially launched.

The high-speed Sega Genesis / Mega Drive-inspired platformer sequel, Freedom Planet 2, has been delayed on Nintendo Switch and consoles, published XSEED Games has announced.

Sharing an update on Twitter today, the follow-up was due to land on the Switch earlier this year, but development has been ongoing to ensure console owners get the best possible version. The PC version came out back in 2022 and has received extremely positive reviews, with many critics stating that the game is a big improvement over its predecessor in every single way.

Yippee-Ki-Play.

Welcome to the party, pals. Publisher Wired Productions has announced that Tin Hearts, the adorable puzzler from developer Rogue Sun, has received free Christmas content dubbed ‘Play Hard’, transforming the game’s tin soldier characters into “Tim” McClane, a ‘reluctant vest-clad hero’.

Tim McClane, a blatant spin on Die Hard‘s main protagonist John McClane, will be fully controllable, making this content a significant departure from the main game that sees you manipulate the environment to guide the tin soldiers to safety, not entirely unlike Lemmings.
