Nintendo Appears To Have Updated Donkey Kong Bananza’s Switch 2 File Size

Make some space for DK (and Pauline).

Nintendo shared all sorts of new information about Donkey Kong Bananza during the title’s Direct earlier this week.

According to updated listings, Nintendo has been able to work its magic and reduce the game’s file size from 10GB down to 8.5GB. It’s not all that much, but given the size of various other titles on the Switch 2, we’re sure many users will appreciate the extra space.

Opinion: I Never Felt True Nostalgia Until I Played GameCube On Switch 2

Ahh, memories.

I still remember the day I got my GameCube. It wasn’t the launch day, because I remember getting Super Smash Bros. Melee alongside it, which to my knowledge released a few weeks after the console itself in the UK.

Oh gosh, I was so excited though! I poured over early issues of NGC in the weeks leading up to The Big Day (somehow, there were already about six or seven issues before the console even released), perhaps most notably while on a family holiday in Cyprus, clutching the magazine while my Mum tried to get me to focus on the sights and sounds of the Limassol coastline. No Mum… I’m reading about Link’s Melee moveset for the hundredth time, thanks.

Reminder: You Can Use Non-Nintendo USB Cameras With Switch 2

And it appears some USB-A cameras work, too.

Check out the official details for Switch 2 USB camera compatibility on Nintendo’s website and you’ll be greeted with a surprisingly straightforward message from the Big N stating that, “You can use the Nintendo Switch 2 camera accessory (sold separately) or any compatible USB-C camera you’d like.” Nice!

Of course, the reality is that nothing is ever quite so easy; Nintendo does qualify that some cameras may not work and you’ll need to use the handy compatibility test found in the new console’s settings. This is great, but not much use when you haven’t bought the camera yet.

Random: Switch 2 Ad Claims Metroid Prime 4 Is “Out Now”

We’ll take a shadow drop, Nintendo.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond doesn’t even have a proper release date just yet, but according to a Switch 2 ad located at the Oxford Circus tube station in London, it’s apparently “out now”.

Before anyone suggests it’s a photoshop, the fine folks at VGC have actually seen it with their very own eyes. The same outlet notes how there is a similar “out now” ad for Mario Kart World alongside it, but the Metroid banner appears to be jumping the gun here.

More Switch Titles Get Switch 2 Backwards Compatibility Fixes

Alongside the latest system firmware update.

Nintendo yesterday rolled out a new update for the Switch 2 which also included some backwards compatibility fixes for select Switch titles.

One of these happens to be Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and an issue with the Mii Fighter. Thankfully, in the latest system firmware update, the problem has been fixed (thanks Nintendo Life user ‘Polley001’ for the heads up).

Random: Zelda: TOTK Autobuild Sharing Exploit Lets You Summon An Army Of Ganondorf & Epona

Uh… is there a delete button?

You know what would make Tears of the Kingdom much easier? A herd of Epona. In terms of making it harder? How about multiple Ganondorfs? Well, you can have all that and more thanks to an exploit discovered by the TOTK community. (Thanks GamingReinvented!).

With the new Zelda Notes companion app (compatible only with the Switch 2 Edition), it’s possible to share Autobuild creations by uploading them to the app in-game, which then creates a QR code that you can share online. When someone scans that code in and uploads it to the game, voila, they have your Autobuild creation ready to roll.

Opinion: I’m Completely In Love With Mario Kart World’s Photo Mode

Plus Team NL’s best shots.

Mario Kart World is the biggest Mario Kart to date. The map is huge, with Easter Eggs and little secrets hiding under bridges, atop towering buildings, and in the middle of sprawling oceans. Knockout Tour is the most chaotic concoction of multiplayer I’ve ever seen. And I’m still knee-deep in unlocking characters (darn, Kamek…).

And yet, here I am to talk about photo mode. Bloody photo mode, you’re probably thinking. A modern-day video game checkbox. Probably 60% of games have a photo mode nowadays, either at launch or patched in at a later date. Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are just a few Nintendo first-party games that have some way of taking expressive pics of your characters.
