Grinding onto Nintendo’s hybrid system this December.
If you’re looking for another skateboard fix on the Switch, it seems Easy Day Studios will finally be releasing Skater XL on the hybrid device this December.
Yes, after bailing on a Switch release way back in 2020, the developer has now locked in a 5th December 2023 release fo the price of $39.99 USD. We’ve even got a new trailer to confirm this, so it seems it’s really happening this time! The developer has also confirmed 60 FPS for the platform across both modes.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder jumps up a place.
This week’s UK physical charts are in, and as Black Friday fades into the background and the Holiday season approaches, EA Sports FC 24 reclaims the top spot.
The Nintendo Switch version of the latest soccer title from EA makes up 24% of the sales, while the PS5 version claims the majority with 50% of sales. It’s ahead of Hogwarts Legacy (where the Switch version makes up 39% of sales) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

A true gentleman never gives up on a dream.
Somehow, it has been 15 years since Professor Layton and the Lost Future (or ‘the Unwound Future’, depending on your region) made its debut in Japan. As with every entry in the mainline series to date, it took another couple of years until the third entry received a Western release, but when it finally did, we could see that Level-5 was onto something special with its detective puzzle series.
The time-hopping story that tied up the loose ends of the two earlier games, the continued puzzle quality from the late, great Akira Tago, and the emotional damage of that ending. The Lost Future is the Layton series firing on all cylinders, but it was also the final time (chronologically) that Hershel and Luke would take the starring roles before things went all Star Wars-y in the ensuing prequel trilogy.

We live in a blinking lovely time right now. Gone is the notion that genres like real-time strategy (RTS) and management sims can’t be controlled with a standard controller, and we have the likes of Two Point Campus and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition on Switch to prove it. Joining that field is SteamWorld Build, the latest game in the beloved SteamWorld series, and the first in 3D.
On the surface, things seem very simple. You have a city in which you need to build (!) homes, refineries, and resource extractors. Each home can house a maximum number of workers, and the happier they are — dictated by the service buildings nearby and the resources available — the closer to that maximum you’ll get. SteamWorld Build does such an excellent job of easing you into its mechanics that it can seem almost painfully basic at first glance, but that’s all part of the plan.

“Players have quickly pushed our mechanics to the limits”.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 launched on the Switch earlier this month, and in its next patch, it will be making a lot of changes based on community feedback.
In the latest post on the official game website, it’s mentioned how version 1.3 will be the team’s “largest early gameplay directional adjustment update”. The adjustments made are a response to the fact players have “quickly pushed” the mechanics in the game to their absolute limits.
