Nintendo has today rolled out a new update for Super Mario Bros. Wonder on the Switch. This is the first update since the game’s release, bumping the title up to Version 1.0.1.

There’s not all that much there, but what Nintendo has done is made some adjustments to heart points, the staff credits and provided some general updates to further improve the overall gameplay experience. You can get the full rundown in the official patch notes below:

Showdown of the decade?

It’s that time of year again, folks. No, not Christmas, though for many it may well be just as exciting. It’s time for The Game Awards 2023!

We’re expecting a genuinely thrilling event in December following what may well have been one of the strongest years in gaming ever, with the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Sea of Stars on Switch all demonstrating just how good we’ve got it at the moment.

Before Ocarina of Time launched back in 1998, the Legend of Zelda franchise didn’t really provide players with a good opportunity to acclimatise to its world. Think about it: both NES games threw you into the middle of Hyrule with little introduction, A Link to the Past saw you almost immediately infiltrate Hyrule Castle’s dungeon, and while Link’s Awakening started off in the cosy confines of Tarin’s house, it’s not long before you’re on the beaches of Koholint Island, surrounded by Sand Crabs, Leevers, and Octoroks.

Let’s do the Time Warp again….

If we had to choose two words to describe In Stars and Time, we’d pick ‘beautiful’ and ‘strange’. This story-driven RPG is ideal for fans of titles like Undertale and EarthBound. Don’t take that comparison to mean that it is identical to these games, though — it’s still its own experience.

Right off the bat, In Stars and Time looks great, with 4:3 aspect ratio that makes it feel more retro than it actually is. The music is gentle and soothing, and it pairs perfectly with the monochrome art style. The menu and settings are easy to navigate from the off, and the story starts with a detailed trigger warning; the game does have some text-based depictions of topics like suicide, which is worth being mindful of. Nothing is shown, but the dialogue is intense in places.

Snow-mama mia!

The folks over at Super Nintendo World Japan are beginning to feel the festive spirit and have introduced a range of displays, food, and products for visitors to enjoy over the Winter period.

Beginning on November 21st, 2023, the ‘Superstar Plaza’ entrance to Super Nintendo World will include a delightful Christmas tree, a festive-themed wreath above the warp pipe photo standees, and a snowman display of Mario and Luigi. Heading into the park itself, Peach’s Castle will also include some subtle Christmas decorations to mark the occasion.

Another blast from the past appears to be returning.

The classic cartoon character Felix the Cat is seemingly making a video game comeback, according to a new rating that’s popped up on the ESRB.

The Felix the Cat game for Switch and multiple other platforms is described as a “collection of action platformers” where players navigate Felix through various 2D environments as he goes on an adventure to save his girlfriend from an evil professor. Here’s the full description:

Welcome back to the Nintendo Life Mailbox. It’s November and we’re knee-deep in new releases as publishers scramble to get their games live on the Switch eShop ahead of the lucrative Holiday season. No, it’s not Mother 3.

It’s time for another clash of the covers as we dive into the latest edition of Box Art Brawl!

Last week, we matched up a duo of box art from the 3DS’ Hey! Pikmin and, let us tell you, it wasn’t even close. The friendlier European cover walked away with a whopping 73% of the vote, leaving North America and Japan in the minority.

Following Minecraft Live last month, Mojang has now shown off the new “Trial Chambers” as well as the new hostile mob known as “The Breeze”.

The Trial Chambers are a new procedurally generated structure, crafting different challenges each time you enter. Each room contains something helpful or hostile.

The king of fighters is back.

It’s another week of game releases and in case you missed it, SNK has also launched The King of Fighters XIII on Switch.

This title was first revealed in April, with the announcement it would include a “rollback netcode overhaul” to improve online functionality. SNK also previously confirmed a physical, deluxe and collector’s edition packed with all sorts of extra goodies.
