Microsoft’s next Forza Horizon game is set in Japan, going by an Instagram ad that appears to have been posted ahead of reveal. The post has been taken down, but one of the internet’s many screen-grabbing Eyes of Sauron has preserved it for posterity. “The Horizon Festival is heading to Japan,” it reads. I imagine that Japan is also where Microsoft had planned to announce the game – they’ve doing a showcase at Tokyo Game Show 2025 in around an hour’s time. Microsoft have previously indicated that the next Forza will launch in 2026.

Much to my surprise, the overgrown garden setting of Infinitesimals is not especially indebted to any Dreamworks and Pixar films about insects. Nor is the game’s steel-jawed space flea protagonist, Captain Awkney Relinrake, directly inspired by Buzz Lightyear. Instead, he channels the stately, swaggering Englishness of Jean Luc Picard and Richard Sharpe, aka Napoleonic Sean Bean.

This last revelation slightly disappoints me, in that Relinrake seems a bit ridiculous, with eyebrows the size of aviation flaps, and I’d like the game to own that humour in a more obviously Toy Story-ish way. But what most catches me out, during my 30 minute hands-on with Cubit Studios’ deceptively toony action game, is that it takes a fair few cues from milsims.

Sony and Housemarque’s sci-fantasy shooter Saros got its first proper gameplay trailer at PlayStation’s latest State of Play this evening. If you were hoping for more Returnal, then pour yourself a huge brimming flagon of victory mead, for this is basically Returnal plus a gruff male lead, a sunnier shape-shifting wasteland, and a force shield that converts attacks into juice for your biggest guns.

After four whole years of silence, PlayStation and Insomniac have very graciously offered up a new trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine. With gameplay no less! Horrifically gruesome, violent, and bloody gameplay that is so intense you should probably give it 15 minutes or so if you’ve just had your supper.

I think my big problem with the proliferation of Soulslikes as a genre is twofold: one, that so many games get labelled as such despite not being such, and two, they’re all much too similar. There might be mechanical differences, but there’s no big thing that clearly sets them apart from what FromSoftware already does so well, not even an aesthetic overhaul. That’s part of why I quite liked Lies of P, and why I’m curious if cautious about Valor Mortis.

Last month, Daedalic Entertainment announced it is publishing Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown, a “story-based survival strategy game” from developer gameXcite. It was only a quick reveal though, so I’m sure they were quite Xcited to reveal a first look at gameplay in a trailer earlier today.

Capcom and Square Enix announced earlier this year that Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy 14 would be collaborating with one another, and the first trailer for the former’s collab received a proper look in today. It’s coming as part of the action game’s third title update, so there’s more included than just Final Fantasy bits, but that does seem to be the main thing here. So what’s included?

Steam’s latest client beta has given you another way to quickly check whether you’ve got secure boot enabled before you hop into some FPSsing about. Enabling the setting’s become mandatory for the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Battlefield 6, as the possibly futile war on cheating continues to rage like, er, well, you know.

It’s a controversial way of going about trying to limit the amout of fraudulent 360 no-scopes, as it involves publishers mandating an aspect of how players’ hardware’s used, if a pretty easy one to check with a trip to your BIOS if you know what you’re doing. Not everyone’s used to delving into those settings though, which is why it’s nice Valve have made this useful addition to their game playing place.

I am gonna claw out your eyes, then drown you to death. I AM GONNA CLAW OUT YOUR EYES, THEN DROWN YOU TO DEATH. So goes the chorus to the hit single Hades 2 girl group Scylla and the sirens have been rehearsing in lethal fashion for a year and a bit. It’s one of the most pervasive earworms I’ve encountered in my 26 years on this Earth, the kind of ditty that’d make the Backstreet Boys blush.

Within an hour of returning to Hades 2, now that it’s morphed into its full 1.0 release form, those words were just as firmly lodged in my skull as they were when I defeated Chronos for the first time during the roguelike’s early access phase. By all rights, I should find the purposefully mocking tune annoying, but I don’t. Much like the rest of Hades 2, no matter how many runs I make through the depths of the underworld and to the summit of Olympus, moments when it’s actually, properly grated on me have been few and far between.

My first game of Lost In The Open came to a sticky end in the borderlands, when my ragtag group of dog-eared bodyguards and hastily-recruited vagrants encountered the full flower of the Strathian military. Outnumbered, underlevelled and already bloodied, my warriors struggled to make a dent on the gleaming Strathian plate, and were swiftly surrounded and slaughtered.

It was at this point that I realised I had fled too efficiently through the mountains and forests. I should have spent more time grinding bandits, looting old forges, and putting aside resources for the inevitable midboss encounter. I’m not sure I can be blamed for my haste, though. After all, I am a nearly-dead king, the survivor of an assassination attempt during a diplomatic dinner, and there is a whole army sweeping over the countryside behind me.
