Multiple fixes and improvements.

Following its release last month, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed has reportedly received a new update in the form of a small patch.

An Ys-y vote?

Ready to set sail with Adol? Ys: X Nordics is out today on Switch and all platforms in the West, and we thought it was about time we looked back at Ys’ history on Nintendo platforms. And what better way than a ranked list, hey?

Falcom’s long-running action RPG series started waaaay back in 1987 on the PC-8800 series with Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished, making it older than Final Fantasy. It’s a bit of a trailblazer, and the franchise is beloved for its incredible music and fast-paced combat.

Damned if ya do.

When it was announced back in 2010, Shadows Of The Damned seemed too good to be true. A supergroup of creators teaming up to make a game in the genre they helped define. Shinji Mikami, father of the Resident Evil franchise, joining Suda51, one of Japanese game development’s most unique voices. Akira Yamaoka, beloved composer of the Silent Hill series, was also on board. How could this possibly not be another survival horror masterpiece?

Unfortunately, publisher demands twisted their collaboration into something more commercially viable. Starting as a traditional horror experience called Kurayami, Grasshopper Manufacture’s anticipated title ended up being a gonzo shooter in which Mikami and Suda’s signature was diluted. A flawed yet enjoyable experience that has since garnered a cult following, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered joins Suda 51’s Lollipop Chainsaw RePop as a flawed yet enjoyable Switch remaster.

As we inch ever closer to Halloween, whispers grow of an emerging evil manifesting within the Nintendo Switch online servers. An evil so malicious, so malcontent, that its mere presence is causing the Mario Party subreddit to go wild with unsettling reports. An evil simply known as… ‘Annalingus’ (cue creepy organ music).

Yes, according to several accounts on Reddit, a player known as Annalingus is causing quite a ruckus on Super Mario Party Jamboree. Supposedly always choosing Pauline, they will commit deeds so gastly that it’s sending shivers up our spines as we write this.

Yooka-Laylee returns to ‘Nintendo platforms’.

Yesterday, Playtonic officially announced Yooka-Replaylee would be coming to ‘Nintendo Platforms’ in the future.

While we wait to find out more, our friends at Pure Xbox have shared a side-by-side graphics comparison video, showcasing the original game alongside this new remastered version. The footage of the new remaster is from a PC build.

Returning in early 2025.

In September, Bandai Namco surprised fans with the announcement of Freedom Wars Remastered for the Nintendo Switch. It will be arriving in January 2025 and is a remaster of Japan Studio’s PlayStation Vita exclusive which is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Fans have now been given a first look at the Japanese physical box art for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 (thanks, Gematsu). If we hear anything about a local physical release, we’ll let you know.

Here’s what the critics had to say.

It’s a big week for the Nintendo Switch on the third-party front with the arrival of Yakuza Kiwami.

Although it was originally expected to be a digital-only release on Switch, Limited Run Games has stepped in to distribute the physical versions. If you do want this version of the game, you will have to wait until early next year.
