Guide: Pokémon Legends: Z-A: Walkthrough

The A to Zs of Pokémon Legends, right here.

Welcome to our Pokémon Legends: Z-A walkthrough hub, and to Lumiose City! You’ll be spending a lot of time in this Paris-inspired town in Kalos, so let’s settle in. As the second game bearing the Legends moniker, Z-A is decidedly different from the mainline ‘Generational’ games — but it’s even a big step forward from Arceus.

It’s a good time, and in our 7/10 review of the Switch 2 version, we lavished praise on the new real-time battle system, but found that setting the action in a single city was constricting.

Talking Point: How Do You Play NES Games These Days?

Or, do you even play NES games?

The NES — specifically the Nintendo Entertainment System, not the Famicom — turns 40 today.

The console’s staggered rollout across the US makes its launch a bittier affair than the orchestrated, worldwide drops we’re used to these days. But four decades ago, the first units were purchased in the United States and Western gamers began playing with power.

Mini Review: Pokémon Legends: Z-A (Switch) – Mostly Stable, Much Less Shiny

An evolution on Switch 1, but not a Mega one.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A on Switch is ‘fine’. For a lot of people, that’ll be enough. And certainly, even I’m surprised it’s as stable as it is after Legends: Arceus and Scarlet & Violet had more than their fair share of performance woes — the latter of which is almost a completely different game with the free Switch 2 patch.

But, this should go without saying, If you have the newer console and you want Legends: Z-A, get it on there. You can read my general thoughts on the entire game in my review, but performance-wise, 60fps, sharper image quality, and better stability means it’s a stronger experience overall by a wide margin on the Switch 2.

Even Memes Are Getting The Metroidvania Treatment Now

You and meme.

Ah, the humble Metroidvania. We’ve seen more additions to this genre than we can count in recent years and now — with all other bases covered, presumably — even memes are being adapted into the format of non-linear exploration.

After a successful Kickstarter campaign, This is Fine: Maximum Cope takes KC Green’s iconic dog meme and bends it into a metroidvania complete with perilous platforming, challenging bosses, nasty enemies and unlockable abilities. Oh yes, and it all takes place in the anxiety-riddled mind of the central character, Question Hound.
