Review: 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller – Ultimate? No, But ‘Decent’ Doesn’t Have The Same Ring

No wake, no bake?

We’ve been putting a procession of 8BitDo controllers through the review process since Switch 2 launched. I’ve covered their excellent Pro 3 controller, whilst Ollie has been all over the new Arcade Stick for Switch + Switch 2 and the Ultimate 2C, which is the budget-friendly version of what I’m taking a look at today – the 8BitDo Ultimate 2.

First and foremost, for anyone who doesn’t gel with the shape of the Pro 3 controller, what you’ve got here is one that suits those lovely, soft, Xbox-controller-shaped paws you’ve developed over the years. I know for some this can be a dealbreaker, especially with how the thumbsticks sit horizontally aligned on the Pro 3, so if that has been holding you back, this may be the pad you’re after. Things under the hood aren’t showing a lot of difference otherwise.

Review: Bubsy In: The Purrfect Collection (Switch) – Limited Run Cleans Out The Kitty Litter

What could possibly go right?

When the Bubsy in: The Purrfect Collection was announced, the news received hundreds of thousands of shares and millions of cumulative views. This, friends, is a stark reminder of the strength of nostalgia, an evocative sensation that can stir the heart and cloud the memory.

Let’s be clear: Bubsy the Bobcat has never had a good game. While Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back (2017) and Bubsy: Paws On Fire! (2019) are certainly more playable than the ’90s titles, they were still met with a lukewarm reception.

Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Upcoming Patch Will Nerf The Difficulty In Certain Areas

It might be proving too much for some.

Team Cherry has announced the first patch for Hollow Knight: Silksong, bringing a solid selection of fixes and improvements to the newly-released game (thanks, Eurogamer).

Due for launch “mid next week”, one key aspect of the patch is that it will actually nerf the game’s difficulty in certain areas – primarily relating to two early boss encounters and a reduction in damage from the ‘Sandcarver’ enemy.

Review: NBA 2K26 (Switch 2) – Brilliant B-Ball Has A Disappointing Debut On Switch 2

Hoops!…they did it again.

As much as I can understand the derision from some quarters regarding NBA 2K26, FC 26, Madden — any of these big sports’ games in their yearly, money-grubbing modern forms — I have, unfortunately, got a few of them to thank for several things that I enjoy in life these days. One of which is the old basketballs.

For most of my life, Basketball was a game where people ran up and down a court, scoring and then letting the other team score. There was no discernible defence, no strategy, nothing other than to be incredibly athletic and awesome and beautiful – and good at going airborne. Oh, and if you had a gigantic wobbly NBA Jam head and a pair of fireproof sneakers, well, all the better.

“Defendant’s conduct has caused NOA significant and irreparable harm”.

Nintendo has won yet another lawsuit in its ongoing battle against piracy on the Switch and Switch 2, this time against ‘MiG Switch’ distributor Ryan Daly and the Modded Hardware website.

UK Charts: Mario Kart World Takes The Lead While Cronos Sees Weak Sales On Switch 2

Mixed bag.

Happy Monday, folks! The latest UK boxed charts are here, and we’ve got a few newcomers to acknowledge, but first… Yes, Mario Kart World is back in the lead at number 1. Nintendo’s grabbed a Golden Mushroom and stormed past the competition once again; let’s see how long it lasts this time.

Cronos: The New Dawn makes a solid debut at number 4, just behind Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and EA Sports FC 25. That said, physical sales were mostly attributed to the PS5, which made up 83% of the platform split. PC managed 9%, and Switch 2 8%. Not a surprising outcome, to be honest, as the PS5 is a good home for horror, and the Game-Key Card format won’t be doing Switch 2 sales any favours.
