When he’s not making games or recording videos about game design, Masahiro Sakurai likes to entertain himself in all sorts of ways.

In his latest post on social media, the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director has revealed a LEGO set he received for his 54th birthday earlier this week (via a rough translation). It’s not just any old Lego set, either – it’s the NES! In a follow up post, he chose to highlight the secret underground level hidden inside this build.

Play the SNES classic to unlock them.

Nintendo has announced another batch of Switch Online icons you can only unlock by playing its digital retro library.

After events for Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and even the original Donkey Kong game, it’s now moved on to Rare’s 1994 SNES hit Donkey Kong Country. Switch Online members will be required to boot up this game on Switch via the SNES app.

Zelda also gets a new ability.

Nintendo has dropped a brand new The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom trailer on this fine Monday morning, showcasing the delights Hyrule.

If you’re a long-time Zelda fan, then seeing Hyrule again probably isn’t anything new, but this is the first time we’ve got a good look at the map and the world in the upcoming Zelda game.

Nintendo has released an adorable new piece of artwork featuring Mario and Luigi to celebrate the warm, relaxing Summer months (thanks, Tokyo Game Life).

Available to download over on My Nintendo, the artwork features Mario and his brother Luigi chiling in the shallow depths of the ocean, while a cute Blooper gazes up from underwater. We can also see a standard Super Star nestled in the sandy beach, which suggests that Mario and Luigi’s vacation getaway probably wasn’t Isle Delfino, where the native Shine Sprites boast a different design.

Third time’s a charm.

Welcome back to another edition Box Art Brawl!

Last week’s bout saw us chucking Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for the Nintendo DS into the ring. The designs for this one were pretty similar, all told, but Europe ultimately lost out with its lack of supporting characters and, uh, copious stickers. North America and Japan bagged an impressive 73% of the vote, so well done!

“I can leak stuff too”.

The new Mortal Kombat movie wrapped filming earlier this year and then locked in an October 2025 release date.

Now, in a new update, series co-creator and Mortal Kombat 1 director Ed Boon has shared the very first look at the sequel movie. Boon says he saw an “unfinished cut” and jokes about grabbing the image from the phone of the movie’s producer Todd Garner. Todd even responded to this in an exchange on social media.
