We finally did it, Trainers! Pokémon Legends: Z-A launch week is upon us and, with just two days to go, reviews have started rolling in.
Here at Nintendo Life, we had a perfectly pleasant time with TPC’s latest. Our very own Ace Trainer Alana awarded it a 7/10 in our review, calling the new real-time combat mechanics “the best Pokémon battles have ever felt”, but struggling with the whole set up of Lumiose City. Here’s a snippet:

Well, almost.
Multiple rumours have been doing the rounds regarding a potential Switch 2 release for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the latest flagship entry in Ubisoft’s stealth series, with age ratings and even box art images making their way online.
Now, thanks to prominent leaker Billbil-kun over on Dealabs, we may now know the proposed launch date for Shadows. According to the article, the game is scheduled to release on 5th December 2025, just in time for Christmas.

Remember Nintendo’s collaboration with Fujifilm? The one that let you add all kinds of Switch-relevant frames and stickers to your screenshotted polaroids via the instax mini Link 3? Don’t worry, we had forgotten about it too, but the company has just released a new update to help add an extra bit of Mushroom Kingdom flare to your physical snaps.
The main addition in this update is the instax AiR Studio. As the capitalisation on the former suggests, this new ‘studio’ lets you take photos with some Mario AR effects to boot — so, if you need a polaroid of your friend hitting a ? Block, holding a Red Shell, or popping out of a Warp Pipe, you’re in luck!

Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road for the Switch and Switch 2 has been delayed multiple times, but according to Level-5’s previous update, the match will finally kick-off on 13th November 2025.
Before we get to this, it appears there’s apparently one more update in the form of a live stream. This Japanese broadcast will take place next week on 21st October 2025 and will share the “latest updates” about the title’s story mode, chronicle mode and versus mode. There will be a YouTube archive version of this video (featuring English subtitles) shared at a later date.

We’re at the point in the year where various outlets, companies, and events are handing out all sorts of nominations and awards.
With this in mind, Time Magazine’s website has featured the Switch 2 on its “best inventions” list of 2025. It mentions how this list features 300 of the “best inventions making the world better, smarter, and more fun”, and includes categories like robotics, accessibility, apps and software, and artificial intelligence.

Argonaut Games has announced its Croc remaster is getting a major update. It’s officially titled Croc Legend of the Gobbos Platinum Edition.
This free update will be applied to the console versions of the game (including Switch) on 16th October 2025 and promises to deliver the “best possible Croc gaming experience”.

An extension of last year’s ‘Teraleak’.
Pokémon Legends Z-A may have already leaked online, but that apparently isn’t devastating enough for Nintendo and The Pokémon Company.
Now, the alleged hacker behind last year’s ‘Teraleak’ – in which huge amounts of data had leaked online – has now supposedly returned and released Legends Z-A’s source code, beta builds (including two from PC and three from Switch), and around 10GB of related documentation (thanks, My Nintendo News).

Well here’s something that we weren’t expecting. Fresh out of New York Comic Con 2025, we got our first peek at Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game (working title), an upcoming one-on-one fighter heading to Switch 2 in Summer 2026.
We don’t know all that much about what this one will have in store just yet — heck, the title will almost certainly change in the next 12 months — but the pre-alpha footage is looking pretty sweet.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is out now on the Switch, but with sub-optimal performance, many fans are eagerly awaiting its eventual release on the Switch 2.
In a new interview with Traxion, series producer Takashi Iizuka explained why the game needed more time before launching on the Switch 2, and his reasoning is pretty much in line with what we’d expected. Supposedly, the Switch 2 launch date of 5th June 2025 meant that the development team simply needed more time to optimise the game properly.
