Nintendo’s Switch eShop is always getting new demos and the latest one is for the 2v2 fighting game Diesel Legacy: The Brazen Age.
Diesel Legacy made its debut last December, and is described as being a brand new take on fighting games with its 2v2 co-op-style gameplay and unique three-lane system set in “Dieselpunk world”. This demo can be downloaded from the eShop right now.

The critically-acclaimed horror game Mouthwashing will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch later this year after publisher Critical Reflex celebrated 500K+ sales on Steam.

After a relatively ‘muted’ 2024, there’s a lot on people’s minds. Inverted commas there because, come on, if muted means releasing a brand new mobile game which has taken the world by storm, hundreds of new lines of merch, frequent events, codes, new trading cards (and new scandals), and way more, then even Whismur could be confused.

The worlds of gaming and footwear crossover more than you might expect. The snazzy Pokémon x Crocs collection took our breath away last year, Bull Airs released a range of console-inspired sneakers and even Converse has got involved in the past too. But all of them pale in comparison to what Nike has been cooking up: a pair of Air Max 1s inspired by Donkey Kong Country.
This news comes from footwear site Sneaker News, which reports that the ‘Big Head Origins’ design is expected to launch at some point in the Spring/Summer period of this year — though nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

How much is destined for Switch 2?
Annapurna Interactive has announced that its first digital showcase of the year (the creatively titled ‘Annapurna Interactive Showcase’) will be streamed on YouTube next week, providing a peek at the company’s release schedule for 2025.
Arriving on 24th February at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm GMT / 6pm CET, the showcase will run for approximately 30 minutes and promises to give us updates on the likes of Wanderstop, Skin Deep, Wheel World, Faraway, Lushfoil, To a T, Morsels and some “surprises”.

Including the sale of Pokémon GO.
A new report from Bloomberg claims Pokémon GO developer Niantic is apparently in talks to sell its video game business to the Saudi Arabia-owned company Scopely.
This deal would supposedly be announced in the “coming weeks” and the figure of the sale is expected to be around $3.5 billion. This sale would reportedly include the mobile hit Pokémon GO, but keep in mind there’s no direct confirmation from Niantic at this stage and the information comes from “several people familiar with the discussions”.

Tyshawn Jones spills.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 was a real blast from the past back in 2020. We were just the right age to fall in love with the original games back in 1999 and 2000, and revisiting them 20 years later was a joy.
So of course we want to see more classic Tony Hawk games get the same glossy remaster treatment. And it sounds like we might get our wish if professional skater Tyshawn Jones is to be believed.

Ever since Nintendo gave us our first official look at the Switch 2 (even before, if you were paying attention to the leaks), we have been wondering what that mysterious new USB-C port on the top of the console is for.
Logic would suggest that it’s for charging in tabletop mode — something that we haven’t been able to do with any ‘Switch 1’ model so far — but last week’s patent which showed the console working when flipped upside down had us (and the rest of the internet, it seems) wondering if the original, lower port might be the real star of the show.

Short of Civilliant.
Most games with numbered sequels tend to iterate and grow on their previous instalments. After all, you don’t want to alienate your audience by upending key systems and creating a substantially different experience from what they’re used to, it just makes sound economic sense. Change things just enough so that it rides that line between familiarity and shininess.
Firaxis apparently missed this particular industry-wide memo, and thus the Civilization series will happily buck its own trends and well-established ideas in order to deliver something fresh every single time, and that is no less the case with Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, which we’ll be calling ‘Civ 7’ for the sake of our keyboard.
