“Thank you for giving us hard feedback”.
It only took just over a week for Unity to make changes to its brand new Runtime Fee policy, but that’s exactly what it has done.
Announcing the changes in an open letter published today on the Unity Blog (shared on social media), the revamped model includes some pretty sweeping changes from the initial policy. Unity Create lead Marc Whitten started the letter off with an apology, acknowledging that “We should have spoken with more of you and we should have incorporated more of your feedback” before making last week’s announcement.

Chill out, man.
We have taken a look at the YouTube channel Macho Nacho Productions a few times on Nintendo Life (remember the world’s smallest GameCube and the ‘thicc boi SP’?), but we were particularly interested in the channel’s latest video, which saw a Switch OLED get converted into a dedicated home console, and run a lot cooler in the process.
In the video (above), Tito from Macho Nacho showcased the TVii Switch Re-Shell Mod (working title), created by a modder called Set. This build converts a standard Switch into a dedicated home console, removing the chance for handheld play, but letting the system run much cooler in the process. The casing even works on Switch consoles without a working display — making handheld play impossible from the get-go.

Over at the Tokyo Game Show this week, Japanese hardware firm Tassei Denki has been showing off some hardware prototypes that could potentially give us a glimpse into the near future. One of these is of particular interest to us and appears to be a new concept for the Nintendo 3DS.
The two units on display are powered by Ryzen and are presumably emulating 3DS titles for the purposes of the demonstration. They both boast 6-inch screens with a 1080p AMOLED display and are capable of running games at 90Hz.

Capcom might be up to something…
Development on Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak officially wrapped some time ago, and now it seems Capcom is gearing up for a big 20th anniversary, which will take place in March 2024.
As part of its Tokyo Game Show 2023 online program, the Japanese video game company shared a new piece of anniversary artwork featuring what appears to be a brand new hunter alongside hunters from past entries in the series. It’s also released a new logo (thanks, Siliconera).

But there’s no stopping Pikmin 4.
It’s time to cover the weekly Japanese charts once again. The latest figures from Famitsu (via Gematsu) have come in, and the Switch is back to filling out all spots in the top ten.
Pikmin 4 is incredibly still at number one, selling another steady 23,489 units in the week of 11th to 17th September. It’s now just shy of shifting 850,000 physical copies in Japan alone. Pokémon Scarlet & Violet — a mainstay in the JP charts since its release last year — has jumped up a few places to third, shifting 9,319 units, likely due to the release of the first half of the Expansion pass, The Teal Mask.
