It’s Over! Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp’s Online Service Has Officially Ended

The paid version replaces it next month.

Earlier this week, you might have seen how Isabelle and the villagers said their goodbyes in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on mobile devices. Well, in an update, the online service for the free-to-play game has now officially ended.

The game’s social media account shared the following message and artwork to mark this occasion, while also noting how it hopes to see players return in the paid version of the game Pocket Camp Complete.

Patent Suggests Samsung May Create Its Own Foldable Handheld Console

Samsung Flip Switch.

A new patent from South Korean tech giant Samsung suggests that the company may be tinkering with a potential handheld gaming console.

That’s not all, though. The patent suggests that such a device may follow in the footsteps of the company’s Z Flip and Fold phone lines and boast its own foldable screen. As reported by 91Mobiles (thanks, Tom’s Guide), the patent was registered earlier this month via the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), showcasing some pretty clear cut images of a device that closely resembles the Switch in design, but with a few obvious differences.

Feature: 9 Things Nintendo Could Add To Switch 2 So It’s Not ‘Just Another Switch’

The same but different.

So here we all are, waiting. For all the rumours — all the supposed prototype casings and talk of electromagnets and back buttons — the only things we can say for certain about ‘Switch 2’ are that it’ll be revealed sometime in the next 123 days (before the end of the fiscal year on 31st March 2025) and that it’s backwards compatible with current Switch software.

Not a whole lot to go on, but that backwards compatibility nugget essentially confirms that the new console’s form factor has to be a touchscreen tablet with detachable controllers. No doughnut screens, no pyramids that project holograms – as expected, Nintendo is sensibly sticking with what works and plans to deliver ‘another’ Switch.

Japanese Charts: There’s No Stopping Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

Another big one for Square’s latest.

Famitsu is back with our latest look at the physical software sales chart for Japan, and it’s another week in the top spot for Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake.

Square Enix’s latest pulled in an additional 91,362 copies between Switch and PS5 this week, which is far from its debut’s 821,770 total, but it’s still enough to keep the Nintendo version in pole position. Meanwhile, the PS5 edition slips to third after another strong week from Super Mario Party Jamboree.

Talking Point: Where The Heck Are Those Metroid Prime 2 And 3 Remasters?

We’re wait-Ing.

So… where is it?

When Metroid Prime Remastered launched on 9th February 2023, we were utterly convinced that its sequels, Prime 2: Echoes and Prime 3: Corruption, would follow suit sometime after. Now that 2025 is fast approaching, our certainty has waned, yet we remain confident that Nintendo will complete the saga on Switch before Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches. The question, however, is when.

UK Charts: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Crashes Out Of The Top 40

Y’all got no taste, or what?

When we check out the latest UK Charts data each week, we generally have a pretty good idea of where some of the newest titles will end up placing. Granted, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake was a little lower than our estimates when it debuted in 14th place last week, but when we scrolled through this week’s list and found it had disappeared entirely, well, we frankly couldn’t believe it.

Alas, it’s true. The exceptional RPG remake from Square Enix has crashed out of the top 40 altogether, marking a stark difference between audiences’ tastes in the UK when compared to Japan. We knew it would never do gangbusters, of course – Dragon Quest never really does well in the UK – but goodness, this is absurd. At least its performance over in Japan will likely be enough to keep Squeenix satisfied for now.

Koei Tecmo Confirms Upcoming Atelier Resleriana Game Won’t Feature A Gacha System

Res(leriana)t easy.

Back in September, Koei Tecmo announced another Atelier game for Switch. We still don’t have a precise release date for the catchily-titled (deep breath) Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian, but we do know that it’ll be launching at some point in 2025. Other details are slim, but Koei Tecmo has shed a little more light on the upcoming project in a recent tweet.

Let’s get the biggie out of the way first: Atelier Resleriana will not include a gacha system. The game’s mobile predecessor, Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, was guilty of relying perhaps a little too heavily on pull rates and paid-only options, so it’s nice to hear that we’ll see no such systems in the console spin-off.
