Idea Factory has confirmed its “motorcycle combat action game” Neptunia Riders Vs Dogoos will be launching for Switch on 28th January 2025.

Nintendo has released a new update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, bumping the Switch game up to Version 13.0.3.
This patch addresses an “online” issue linked to ‘Global Smash Power’ not returning to the appropriate levels. As usual, there may be compatibility issues with replay data from previous builds of the game in this latest update, so make sure to save them all before performing this update.

Respecting Japanese animation in ‘Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town’.
Back in the summer of 2022, the world of Crayon Shin-chan collided with Millennium Kitchen’s My Summer Vacation series in a delightful, beautiful game with an unnecessarily long name. Shin chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation -The Endless Seven-Day Journey- brought Kay Ayabe’s long-running game series into contact with the celebrated manga and anime property starring the precocious five-year-old Shinnosuke “Shin” Nohara, creating a crossover that felt so right that it’s amazing it didn’t happen sooner.
The upcoming sequel, Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town, is a stunning-looking game that builds on the first’s foundations and takes the titular rascal into an imaginary world for this summer holiday. It launched in Japan in February and recently won an Excellence Award for Visual Arts at CEDEC 2024.

“Players should be able to enjoy the game on an equal footing”.
Remember earlier this year when SEGA announced the strangely Fall Guys-esque free-to-play mobile game Sonic Rumble? Yeah, we do too (unfortunately), but today, we’ve learnt a little more about the game, making it appear somewhat more attractive: namely, there will be no gacha or pay-to-win mechanics (thanks, VGC).
That is according to Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka and the game’s director Makoto Tase who, in a recent interview with Automaton, explained how the team opted against the mechanics due to how poorly received they tend to be in the West.

Super Mario Bros. 2’s in the spotlight this time.
We have highlighted the wonderful scanning work of @KeshiCorner a couple of times now on Nintendo Life. This is the retro enthusiast who managed to preserve classic Zelda and Mario rubber “Keshi” figurines through the magic of 3D scanning and now they are back with a new collection.
It’s a 1993 range of Super Mario Bros. 2 figures that are stealing the spotlight this time, with five new designs featuring Birdo, Shy Guy, Ninji, Mouser and Wart. As was the case with Keshi Corner’s previous collections, these figures would be a difficult find today, but their 3D scans are now available on the Internet Archive for home printing or more general preservation.

Clear up some blocks.
Aloy’s new game LEGO Horizon Adventures is out on the Switch this month, and if you’re planning on downloading this game, you might be curious to know just how much space it will take up.
According to an official Switch eShop listing, you’ll need around 5.9GB of free space on your system to install it. The file size of the game doesn’t appear to have been revealed for the PlayStation, but the Steam listing says the PC version requires around 30GB of storage.

Try before you party.
Ahead of the launch of Super Mario Party Jamboree later this month on 17th October 2024, it’s been revealed a demo of the game has been added to in-store Nintendo kiosks across the US.
This demo is available at select GameStop, Best Buy and Target, and allows you to party for 10 minutes in total. As highlighted by Nintendo Wire, you’ll be able to try out two game modes: the Koopathlon and Minigame Bay. Here’s a bit more about them:

And it has landed a new R&D division.
Monolith Soft, the studio behind the Xenoblade Chronicles series, is expanding its in-house engine for use on future titles thanks to its newly-founded R&D department (thanks, Automaton).
That is according to the company’s Chief Creative Officer Tetsuya Takahashi and lead programmer Michihiko Inaba, who, in a recent interview with Japanese outlet CGworld, spoke about the company’s plans for the future as it plans to tackle bigger development projects.

No Nintendo ‘nnouncements?
We’re now one full week into October following the first September since 2016 without a really big Nintendo Direct.
Looking back at our Nintendo Direct broadcast history guide, it’s all there in black and white (well, red and white). 2020’s Direct might have been a Super Mario-focused job themed around that series’ 35th anniversary, but that caveat aside, 2016 — the year before the Switch launched — was the last year there wasn’t a full, flagship Nintendo Direct in September.
