Feature: Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown Lands On Switch Today In A Port Two Years In The Making

Originally launching nearly five years after Ace Combat: Infinity and four years after the 3DS release Assault Horizon Legacy+, 2019’s Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown was the first game in the mainline series for over a decade and brought the series back to Strangereal, the franchise’s fictionalised Earth stand-in.

Now, five years further on, Bandai Namco is bringing Skies Unknown to Switch in Deluxe Edition form. The Assault Horizon entries on 3DS familiarised Nintendo players with the series’ arcade-style flighter combat, but we’re very happy to see this particular entry land unexpectedly on Switch — and perhaps a little trepidatious about how this port will hold up on the hybrid system.

Horror Dev Bloober Team Says It’s Working On A New Project For Nintendo Platforms

Codenamed ‘Project M’.

Polish horror game developer Bloober Team, known for series like Layers of Fear, The Medium and the upcoming release Silent Hill 2, has announced it’s working on a new project for Nintendo platforms.

In an interview earlier this week, Bloober referenced a title called ‘Project M‘ which has a budget “significantly smaller” than its usual projects and is being developed “in cooperation with the world’s best game creators for Nintendo platforms”. Here’s a translation (via ResetEra):

NBA 2K25 Scores September Release Date And A Trio Of Cover Athletes

Tip off this September.

In perhaps the least surprising news of the month, 2K has announced that NBA 2K25 is heading for Switch *gasp*. In September *double gasp*. With a confusingly large number of physical and digital editions *blacks out*.

Set to come our way on 6th September, NBA 2K25 will be graced by a trio of athletes depending on which edition you pick up. The Boston Celtics leading man Jason Tatum takes centre stage on the Standard Edition, Las Vegas Aces’ A’ja Wilson is on the WNBA Edition and dunk champ Vince Carter gets golden on the Hall of Fame Edition.

Gorgeous GBA-Style RPG ‘Tako no Himitsu’ Launches Kickstarter

Includes music from Golden Sun and Terranigma composers.

Deneos Games, the developer behind Save Me Mr Tako, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its GBA-inspired RPG Tako no Himitsu: Oceans of Secrets, which is currently slated to launch in 2026.

Boasting music from Motoi Sakuraba (Golden Sun) and Masanori Hikichi (Terranigma), the game might be pretty far off at the time of writing, but there’s a demo available on Steam right now if you want to get a taste of what’s in store.

Nintendo Switch Sports Basketball Update Worked On By Eighting

Known for fighting games and Pikmin.

Developer Eighting, which is most well-known for developing licensed fighting games on Japanese tokusatsu shows and anime has revealed it led the development of the Basketball update for Nintendo Switch Sports.

A post on the developer’s website revealed that it was “in charge of planning and developing the free update” for the sports title. The update launched earlier today (or yesterday, depending on your timezone), and gives you multiple ways to play this brand new sport. This brings the total number of sports in the game to eight. Coincidence? Well… yes, probably.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Datamine Supposedly Uncovers Evidence Of New DLC

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot recently celebrated eight million downloads since its original release, so what’s next for this ever-growing experience? According to a new datamine, Goku and friends might be getting some DLC based on…spoilerDragon Ball Daima.

If you’re not familiar with Dragon Ball Daima, it’s the new series coming out later this year featuring “original work, story and characters” by the legendary series creator Akira Toriyama. A new datamine of the game’s files has supposedly uncovered a lines referencing ‘Daima’ and ‘DLC Story 07’.

After revealing Basketball would be coming to Nintendo Switch Sports during its latest Direct broadcast, Nintendo has now officially released this free court sport update.

As already revealed, it comes with a trio of different game modes including two-on-two matches, a solo three-point contest and a ‘Five Streak Battle’. Included with this is local and online multiplayer support as well.

Sonic Team Boss Really Wants To Make A New Sonic The Hedgehog RPG

A new brotherhood?

Remember Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood? Maybe you don’t for various reasons, but the DS game was the first ever Sonic the Hedgehog RPG — and the last.

However, in a recent interview with Good Vibes Gaming, Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka spoke about his desire to make an RPG starring Sonic, admitting that he has asked himself “Why haven’t we done a Sonic RPG in all this time?”. It seems like Iizuka-san might have forgotten about Sonic Chronicles, but we’ll let him off — it was developed by BioWare, after all.
