Random: Sakurai Talks About “The Most Incredible Year For The Game Industry”

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai is back at it with a new “Grab Bag” video – this time discussing the “most incredible year for the game industry”. In his own “personal opinion”, it’s 1986 – a year that marked the beginning of multiple major franchises, the arrival of the NES in Europe, and the origin of the legendary Konami code.

This particular year saw the birth of series like The Legend of Zelda, Dragon Quest, Metroid, and various other key franchises like Castlevania and Kid Icarus. As Sakurai notes, many of the series in his latest video feature in some way or form in Smash.

New Nintendo Infographic Showcases Every April Indie World Game

Remember the Indie World showcase from earlier this week? It was sweet, huh? Well, to show just how sweet it was, Nintendo has today taken to Twitter to release its regular infographic highlighting all of the titles that were featured.

Now it’s true, this Indie World graphic might not be quite as stacked with icons as those that we have seen from full-fat Directs in the past (even the February Partner Direct one was beefier, if we’re honest), but it’s still a handy one-stop shop to see the full lineup at a glance either and we are particular fans of some of the logos on show.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Looks Glorious In New Footage

Nintendo’s marketing campaign for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is well underway at this point (as you would hope, given its 23rd May release date) and that means we are getting to see a lot about what the remaster has in store.

A new short trailer shared on Twitter today contains some fresh footage of the game, giving us our first look at select locations, map reveal animations and, perhaps most importantly, the cloudy chapter boss Smorg — who’s looking just as intimidating as we would have hoped.

Super Nintendo World’s Donkey Kong Country Park Delayed To Late 2024

Swinging away from Spring.

It was right at the end of 2023 that Universal Studios announced the opening date for its Donkey Kong Country park at Super Nintendo World Japan. It was supposed to be this Spring (any day now, we would assume), but instead, the studio has announced that the opening has been pushed back to “late 2024”.

The delay was announced by Universal Studios Japan on Twitter, with the notice giving no indication of why the opening had been delayed, but confirming that more details would be coming in the future when they are ready.

Stardew Valley Adds 40 New Mine Layouts In Latest Update, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

The Switch release is still waiting on the ‘1.6 Update’.

Although we’re still waiting on the Stardew Valley1.6 Update‘ for Switch, the game’s creator Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone is already rolling out new updates for the PC version.

In the latest update (1.6.4 update), the creator has added all sorts of new content and features on top of everything that’s already been included in the 1.6 update. The highlight in 1.6.4 is the fact there are now 20 new ‘alternate’ main layouts and 20 new volcano mines layouts.
