Fire Emblem’s fates.

How would you feel if the next mainline Fire Emblem game was exclusively a social sim?

While a change this drastic is almost certainly not in the cards, the identity crisis currently faced by Fire Emblem means that change must come. While Engage’s 1.61 million sales as of March 2023 is respectable for the franchise, it marks a return to 3DS-era numbers after whispers of blockbuster status when Three Houses sold nearly 3 million in its first fiscal year. The reason for this discrepancy is simple: Three Houses expanded the fanbase by shifting the focus away from its strategy elements, whereas Engage doubled down on its strategy roots.

It will apparently be getting a “multiplatform release”.

The next entry in the first-person shooter series DOOM is reportedly set to be unveiled at Xbox’s games showcase this June.

According to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, this new entry will officially be titled ‘DOOM: The Dark Ages‘ (previously codenamed ‘Year Zero’) and is believed to be a “medieval inspired” game.

It used to be the case that, if you missed out on a particular game, your only way to catch up was to buy the original console and the original game. Then, thanks to services like the Virtual Console, you could emulate those old games without having to own any old consoles, for much more affordable prices (usually) than the ones you might find in secondhand sales.

We’re off to ‘Frisco.

Nintendo has announced plans to open a second Official Store in the USA.

The company will be opening a brick-and-mortar shop in San Francisco, specifically in the iconic Union Square, deemed the “teeming commercial hub of the city”. Currently, the store is scheduled to open in 2025, with more details to be revealed in the future.

Pre-order, if you dare.

If you cast your mind back to earlier in the year, you might remember the horrors of the GameStop-exclusive Banjo-Kazooie Funko Pop. With its big head and soulless, staring eyes, the figure was… well, a Funko Pop, but it was also an acknowledgement that the Rare pair still exist, so we’ll take what we can get.

Now, Funko has revealed another Banjo-Kazooie Pop figure. Sure, all of the horrifying details are still present and correct — seriously, what horrors have those eyes seen? — but, again, it’s new Banjo merch!

Game launches later this year.

It’s been a fair while since we received some concrete news regarding WayForward’s enhanced port of Clock Tower for the Switch, but we’ve just received confirmation that the game will receive two gorgeous physical editions via Limited Run Games.

With pre-orders opening on 31st May 2024 and closing on 30th June 2024, fans will have roughly one month to secure either a Standard Edition of the game or a Collector’s Edition. The estimated shipping date is between 11th October – 11th November 2024, but for those who might be opting for a digital copy, it might be best to wait for confirmation from WayForward itself on its release date.

The 3DS title soars onto Switch next month.

The original Monster Hunter Stories game is returning on the Switch next month and if you weren’t already interested, this new gameplay footage might be worth a look.

Capcom has showcased the opening gameplay and cinematic (which has some “dark” moments, as noted by the team). Although it’s not Switch footage, it’s perhaps the most footage we’ve seen of this remastered version so far.

A brand new update for the Mario mobile game.

Nintendo’s mobile game Super Mario Run will be hosting a new Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door crossover event.
