Antonblast arrived on the Switch late last year and it’s received some updates since then including a performance boost.
Now, in another update, the developer has announced it’s released a new patch for the Switch version, which brings it up to date with the PC release. You can see these previous patch updates for PC via the game’s Steam Page.

A Link to the Millennium.
Two of my favourite games growing up were The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Secret of Mana. Lush green worlds, curious — and sometimes cute — enemies, and fluid action combat for the time; as someone who had largely only played turn-based RPGs for the first eight years of their life, the SNES era of action RPGs showed me a glimpse of what video games were capable of. These games in particular made me feel bold and adventurous, and whenever I revisit them as an adult, they fill me with a childlike sense of wonder.
So I am very much the target audience for the upcoming action RPG, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. I adore HD-2D, and Octopath Traveler II is one of my favourite Switch games and RPGs of all time. But at the same time, I wanted Team Asano and Square Enix to do something a little different with this beautiful art style; I was a little worried about the direction it seemed to be taking.

It’s not that often that a perfectly good and functional air hockey video game drops. In fact, considering that the grotty arcade staple translates so readily to the sphere, very few air hockey games release in general. One of life’s persisting mysteries, right there.
However, fear not Switch 2-owning air hockey fans (which I’m sure is a large demographic), as Handy Hockey is now here, it costs a fiver and, to borrow an old proverb, ‘it does exactly what it says on the tin.’ This re-release/remaster of 2010’s Japan-only DSI title from ITL is the epitome of laser-focused game design. There is one thing to do here, and it’s play air hockey. Go *insert air hockey team name*!

Welcome to August, folks! Let’s kick things off right with a fresh edition of What Are You Playing.
It was Direct week over in Nintendo Land, with a Partner Showcase delivering us 25 minutes of… meh. There were some big hitters that we’re pleased to see (Persona 3 Reload, Octopath Traveler 0, The Adventures of Elliot), but we were hoping to be a little more excited by the whole affair.

Arc System Works Europe has just announced that the ever-so-slightly-delayed 2D fighter, Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact, releases today on Nintendo Switch.
Developed by Bushiroad Games and Eighting, this one has got some pedigree in that Eighting has given us some well-known fighters in the past, including Naruto: Clash of the Ninja. With Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact, you get down and dirty in 3v3 tag-team-styled action, which is detailed in the official press release thusly:

Following a recent rumour, THQ Nordic and Purple Lamp have now officially lifted the lid on the latest SpongeBob SquarePants game.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide will make its debut across multiple platforms including the Switch 2 later this year on 18th November 2025, with pre-orders now live for €39.99 / $39.99.

Star-Crossed lovers.
As the Switch 2 enters its third month in the wild, the new games are coming in slow but steady. The wealth of Switch 1 games old and new that benefit from the new console’s extra power is helping us pass the time between totally brand new S2 games following launch.
Most players have probably still got their hands full with the excellent Donkey Kong Bananza, but Nintendo has a first-party pair lined up for August: the digital-only Drag x Drive arrives mid-month followed by Star-Crossed World, the Switch 2 upgrade and expansion of Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

All that stands between Switch and PS2.
Switch 2 numbers were always going to dominate Nintendo’s latest quarterly financial report, but the Switch 1 is still chugging along, too. In fact, with another quarter under its belt, the OG hybrid is edging ever closer to the DS’ lifetime sales.
At the latest count, the Switch 1 has sold 153.10 million units, putting it within touching distance of the DS’ 154.02 million and the title of the best-selling Nintendo system of all time. It only managed 0.98 million sales in the last quarter (a 53.5% decrease on the same period last year), but there was always going to be a notable slowdown once Switch 2 hit the market.

New listing says it’s a “game on cart”.
A new wave of Game-Key Card titles have just been announced for the Switch 2 following Nintendo’s Partner Showcase. Although it seems this type of release won’t be stopping any time soon, not every third-party title is necessarily taking this route.
According to a new listing, Digital Eclipse – which has made a name for itself reviving various retro game libraries – will be offering the upcoming Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection on a full game cartridge. This information was shared via the Canadian-based physical game seller and website, Video Games Plus.
