Nintendo Has Seemingly Taken Further Steps To Combat ‘eSlop’ On Switch 2

Though how successful it will be remains to be seen.

Nintendo has seemingly taken steps to combat so-called ‘eSlop’ on the Switch 2 – at least in Japan and some regions in Asia.

In a report from IGN, Nintendo has implemented new guidelines for publishing on the Switch 2 eShop, most (if not all) of which appear to be targeting the relentless proliferation of low-quality ‘eSlop’ games. How successful this proves to be remains to be seen in these early days, but it at least sounds like Nintendo is trying to make the eShop a much better experience on Switch 2 than its predecessor.

Rumour: Major Third-Party Devs Reportedly Sitting On Multiple Switch 2 Announcements

As you’ve likely seen by now, there’s a new rumour from the latest Nate the Hate podcast about a Nintendo Direct potentially taking place some time after the launch of Donkey Kong Bananza.

In the same episode, the YouTuber and podcaster has touched on the subject of future third-party support for the Switch 2, and how although it might not look like there’s much on the way beyond the initial announcements, there are apparently multiple developers holding back reveals (potentially for Nintendo’s broadcast).

Donkey Kong Might Be Getting His Own Movie

According to a new copyright listing.

Following the monumental success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it seems Nintendo and Universal are keen to expand on its new venture beyond the upcoming sequel in 2026.

As reported by Nintendo Everything, a new copyright filing has been spotted that is simply listed as ‘Untitled Donkey Kong Project ;Motion picture’. The date of recordation is 6th June 2025, with two dates listed as the execution: 9th May and 17th May 2025.

Video: Digital Foundry Tests Switch 2’s GameCube Emulation

Latency, performance and resolution investigated.

GameCube has joined the Switch 2’s library of classic games, and it was recently updated with Mario Smash Football. While the service’s experience has been fun so far, there have also been some reports of underlying issues with the emulation.

Now, Digital Foundry has tested GameCube emulation and backward compatibility – investigating latency, analogue stick issues, frame drop issues on Switch 2, and resolution and performance improvements. The verdict is “certain details clearly need attending to by Nintendo”.
