Nintendo Showcases Switch 2’s Fancy New Battery Charge Settings

Just when you thought that the Nintendo Today! app had showcased just about every facet of the Switch 2 that we could possibly hope to see, the Big N pulls out yet another reveal. Today, it’s all about the console’s fancy new charge settings and how they’re working to keep batteries healthy for longer.

As highlighted in the app, Switch 2 will feature a new ‘Stop Charging Around 90%’ option in the system settings. As the name suggests, this feature will slow the console’s charging speed as it approaches 90% and then stop once it hits the figure.

PSA: You Can Stop Others Accessing Your Switch 2 With A PIN

Hands off!

A new video posted to the Nintendo Today! app reveals the the upcoming Switch 2 can be completely locked with a PIN.

In a similar manner to smart phones and tablets, you can apply a PIN to prevent others from waking the console from sleep mode and playing without your permission. It’s not known whether you can adjust the number of digits required, or if it’s just a bog-standard 4-digit PIN, but either way, it’s a neat little security measure.

Mini Review: Please, Touch The Artwork 2 (Switch) – Another Absurd Little Art Exhibit

Touch, I remember touch.

The first Please, Touch The Artwork was a stylish puzzler inspired by Piet Mondrian and De Styjl, the Dutch abstract art movement that reached its height around a century ago. We enjoyed Belgian dev Thomas Waterzooi’s cracking little curio immensely back in 2022, and this follow-up (which has been available elsewhere since February 2024) focuses on Belgian painter James Ensor. It’s a decidedly simpler composition, but one that carries through the first game’s humour and low-stakes, gallery vibes.

Described in the PR blurb as “‘Where’s Waldo’ meets Modern Art”, there’s a touch of Python in the animation and sound effects of this “cosy hidden-object adventure”. Split into six short chapters, you control a well-attired, genteel skeleton risen from the grave to wander Ensor’s paintings collecting items at the behest of the artist’s subjects.

Yep, Tony Hawk Fancies An ‘Underground’ Remaster Too

But don’t get your hopes up just yet.

We are rapidly approaching the 11th July release date for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 on Switch (and its as-yet undated Switch 2 version), but that won’t stop us all from looking to what’s next for the Bird Man as far as remasters are concerned. While nothing is confirmed for the time being, a recent interview with Hawk himself has us wondering whether the Underground games might be the next titles in the (half)pipeline.

This comes from a new Screen Rant interview, where the outlet asked Hawk if he has any hopes to keep the series going with a future remaster for Tony Hawk’s Underground. “I always have aspirations,” the skater responded, ” it’s not up to me generally. I’ll campaign all I can, but I’m working with a much bigger company that’s a lot smarter than me”.

Video: 10 GameCube Games We Want On Switch 2’s Online Expansion Pack

The Switch 2 isn’t just getting brand new games, but its online service will also be receiving a special update adding the GameCube library. While it’s set to start with only a handful of games, Nintendo has already teased some others.

Still, we’re sure there are many other requests – so Alex and Zion have now chimed in with 10 games Nintendo Life would like to eventually see show up on this classic Nintendo library. This includes both first and third-party games as well as some safe picks and dream releases.

Guilty Gear Strive Adds Another DLC Character To The Roster Later This Month

Say hello to Unika.

The Arc System Works fighter Guilty Gear Strive was released on Switch earlier this year, and at EVO Japan this weekend a new DLC fighter has locked in a release date.

Unika will be arriving on 27th May 2025 as part of the Season 4 character lineup. More details about this new character will be released closer to her launch later this month.
