Mario Kart World “Paid DLC” Would Be A Big No-No, According To Ex-Nintendo Duo

Is $80 already enough?

There’s been a lot of talk about the $80 price tag attached to the Switch 2 launch title Mario Kart World and Nintendo has justified it by claiming the game is “so big and so vast”, but what if it ends up charging for additional content in the long run?

Ex-Nintendo Minute duo Kit and Krysta, who now run their own YouTube channel, have touched on the idea of Nintendo potentially demanding even more gold coins in the immediate future for possible Mario Kart World DLC – suggesting it would go against the current messaging:

Some Fans Are Drawing Unfavourable Comparisons Between Switch 2 And Xbox One

Don Mattrick’s infamous quote resurfaces.

The Nintendo Switch 2 pricing reveal hasn’t exactly gone down well, and with the economic instability at the moment, many consumers are frustrated at the price and lack of communication. But as interviews with Nintendo of America reps were published yesterday, one of Doug Bowser’s comments in particular has stuck — and not in a good way.

The president of Nintendo of America spoke to CBC about the negative reaction to the price of the console. Community: What Questions About Switch 2 Do You Still Have For Nintendo?

What a difference a Direct makes.

It’s been a busy week for Nintendo and its fans, that’s for sure. With Switch 1 in a definite ‘wind-down’ mode over the past few months — though still delivering goods like Xenoblade Chronicles X, to be fair! — last week’s Switch 2 Direct brought new goods, new faces, but also new questions.

In fact, it’s the lack of clarity around some aspects which has left us feeling a tad more confused than we should about things like game-key cards and NS2 Edition upgrades. There’s contradictory information flying around from customer service agents and official Nintendo Store reps who have presumably been briefed and have an official Q&A doc to hand – but somehow they don’t seem to be on the same page.

UK Switch 2 Fans, Don’t Bother Going To GAME Stores For Your Pre-Order

You won’t get one.

A new report from Eurogamer indicates that Switch 2 pre-orders at GAME retail stores in the UK simply won’t be a thing, with the firm instead possessing a “small allocation” of consoles available via its official website.

It’s yet another indication of how GAME is downsizing its operations after numerous controversial decisions over the last year or two. Most GAME stores have now been moved to concession locations within Sports Direct, another brand firmly in the grip of the wider Frasers Group retail conglomerate.

New Hollow Knight: Silksong Screenshots Sneak Onto Japanese Nintendo Website

Dashing.

It’s all kicking off in the world of Hollow Knight: Silksong, isn’t it? After scoring a 2025 release window in last week’s Direct and the clarification that it’ll launch on Switch alongside Switch 2, you’d think we’ve heard enough official news from Team Cherry, but no! There’s a fresh batch of screenshots out there.

As noted on Twitter by Hollow Knight YouTuber and game dev @mossbag69, the Japanese Nintendo website has been treated to a handful of new screenshots, showing Hornet in action. Admittedly, the snaps themselves don’t reveal much that we haven’t seen before (the locales all appeared in the game’s 2019 reveal trailer), but they are a nice indication of how the game has progressed in the years since.
