Japanese Charts: Donkey Kong Can’t Keep Up With Like A Dragon’s Ship-Shape Debut

Strong sails.

Yesterday’s Pokémon chatter meant that we had to put Famitsu‘s Japanese charts on the backburner for a minute, but fear not, here they are!

It has been a big one for Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, with SEGA’s latest wacky RPG claiming the top two spots in its debut week as PS5 and PS4 sales (or should that be ‘sails’?) combined for a little over 105,000 units.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes First Story Expansion DLC Out This Week

“A prequel to the epic saga of the Hundred Heroes”.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes was one of the many RPGs to arrive on the Switch in 2024 and developer Rabbit & Bear Studios has now started its rollout of the story expansion DLC.

As previously revealed, this all kicks off with “The Chapter of Marisa” which arrives on the eShop this week. It will set you back $7.99 / £5.99 (or your regional equivalent). Of course, you’ll need the main game to access this new prequel story content.

Pokémon Champions Limited To “Select Pokémon” At Launch

There’ll also be Pokémon HOME restrictions.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the latest Pokémon Presents broadcast was the reveal of the new Switch and mobile title Pokémon Champions. It follows in the footsteps of games like Pokémon Stadium, where the focus is exclusively on trainer battles.

As exciting as it is to see the return of this type of game, it seems there will be a catch – with The Pokémon Company confirming alongside this announcement that certain “limitations” will apply at the time of release. It seems there will only be “select Pokémon” available for use in Pokémon Champions, and not every single Pokémon accessible in Pokémon HOME will be usable.

Opinion: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Looks Cool, But It’s Lacking Arceus’ Unique Style

We’re getting Scarlet and Violet vibes.

One year after its initial announcement, Pokémon Legends: Z-A has finally been showcased properly during the most recent Pokémon Presents, giving us a good look at the upcoming title’s gameplay and features. It wasn’t quite the deep dive many of us were hoping for, but it was certainly enough to whet our appetites for the ‘late 2025’ launch window.

We’re generally quite pleased with what we saw, all told: the battle system looks neat; Mega Evolutions are back; you can jump between building rooftops, for goodness’ sake. Lots of cool stuff. We can’t help but feel like it’s a bit lacking in the visual department, though (“Shocking”, we hear you say). Granted, Pokémon games have never been graphical powerhouses – at least since the move into the 3D realm – but going from Pokémon Legends: Arceus to this is a bit of a blow, to be honest.

We’re Losing Our Minds Over This New Retro ‘Terminator 2’ Game

I’ll be back… I need to change my pants.

Following a rating toward the end of 2024, Publisher Reef Entertainment and developer Bitmap Bureau have revealed the debut trailer for Terminator 2D: NO FATE, a new retro-inspired title based on the 1991 movie Terminator 2: Judgement Day (a.k.a. the best one, and we won’t hear any different, thank you very much).

Bitmap Bureau is known for its work on titles such as Xeno Crisis and Final Vendetta, and the team certainly seems to have done its homework for this latest project. NO FATE looks remarkably faithful to the James Cameron-directed movie, allowing you play through scenes from the ‘present day’ and the apocalyptic future.

How Would You Rate The Pokémon Presents Showcase For February 2025?

Mega or mediocre?

Well folks, another Pokémon Presents has come and gone, and it pretty much delivered exactly what we were expecting.

The biggest draw was obviously Pokémon Legends: Z-A, where we got a good look at some gameplay along with confirmation that Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile will be the game’s starter Pokémon. Not only that, but Mega Evolutions will feature, battle arenas appear to be larger than ever, and you’ll be meeting one of two possible human allies: Urbain or Taunie.

Mario + Rabbids Director Recalls “Harsh” Ubisoft Comment On ‘Sparks Of Hope’

“It was a bit hurtful”.

In a recent interview with VGC, Mario + Rabbids director Davide Soliani recalled the moment when the team received word from Ubisoft regarding the sales performance of 2022’s Sparks of Hope.

In short, the game didn’t meet Ubisoft’s internal expectations, with CEO Yves Guillemot even mentioning that Ubisoft should have waited for the Switch 2. But given the passion from its development team and the positive critical reception from players, Soliani and the rest of the staff felt somewhat demoralised by the announcement.

Nintendo Switch 2 Doesn’t Need To Worry About Steam Deck Sales

Steam Deck has sold roughly 4 million units.

As the Steam Deck turns three years old, and many of us laud its praises for allowing accessible PC gaming on-the-go, market research firm IDC has estimated that the handheld console has shifted roughly around 4 million units since its arrival in February 2022.

The Verge spoke to the IDC, which uses supply chains to estimate the amount of gaming systems have been shifted worldwide in order to create spending forecasts (via Push Square). According to IDC, roughly 6 million handheld units — which includes the Lenovo Legion Go and Asus ROG Ally, among others — have been sold, not consoles such as the Ayaneo or GPD, which are manufactured in China.
