PSA: Gold Points For Nintendo Switch Purchases Are Now Discontinued

Update: The Golden age is over.

Last month, Nintendo announced it would be discontinuing the My Nintendo Gold Points program, with it no longer possible to earn these points after a certain date.

In case you missed this, Nintendo has issued a reminder on social media ahead of the big day next week on 24th March 2025 (or 25th March depending on your location). While you’ll no longer be able to receive Gold Points from purchases, there will still be other ways to earn points:

Nintendo Reuploads Game Vouchers Trailer With Switch 2 Fine Print

ICYMI: Vouchers won’t work on Switch 2.

In February, Nintendo revealed Game Vouchers would not extend to the Switch 2 game exclusives in an official notice on its website. Now, in an update, Nintendo has gone to the extent of reuploading its YouTube game voucher trailer with fine print specifying the same thing.

“Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers cannot be redeemed for games exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 and may not be combined with any other sale, discount, or promtional offer unless otherwise specified.”

Nintendo Music Adds 23 Kirby Switch Songs, With Rest Coming “Later This Year”

Listen to some of Kirby and the Forgotten Land today.

Nintendo has been regularly updating its Nintendo Music app with different soundtracks but this week it’s slightly different

Following the addition of multiple albums last week, today we’re getting just part of an album. It’s 23 tracks from the recent Switch title Kirby and the Forgotten Land – with the rest of the game’s songs scheduled to arrive on the app “later this year”.

Forget The Lawsuit, Pocketpair Says Palworld On Switch 2 Is “100% Worth Considering”

“If it’s beefy enough”.

While its patent lawsuit with Nintendo rages in the background, Palworld developer Pocketpair isn’t willing to completely turn its back on the House of Mario just yet. Namely, the dev would still consider Switch 2 a prime target for a Palworld port down the line, if it’s powerful enough, of course.

That’s according to Pocketpair communications director John ‘Bucky’ Buckley, who recently told IGN that a Switch 2 port is “100% worth considering” if the console is “beefy enough”. He made it clear that the studio has no inside knowledge about the console’s specs for the time being, but hey, we’re all hoping for a power boost.

Exclusive: ‘Misc. A Tiny Tale’ Gameplay – Check Out Switch Footage Of This Cosy Chibi-Robo-Like

What it says on the tin.

Misc. A Tiny Tale is scheduled to launch Switch later this year, and today we’ve got an exclusive look at a trailer showcasing the game running specifically on Nintendo’s console.

Coming from three-person indie developer Tinyware Games, the video above features project lead Michael Pearce showcasing this Chibi-Robo-eque 3D platformer with footage captured on Switch (it’s also coming to PC). Showing various characters and areas, the demo gives us a good idea of how Misc. is shaping up on Nintendo’s console.

Nintendo Alarmo Update Adds Multiple Highly-Requested Features

Finally!

Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo had been updated to version 3.0.0, adding in a highly-requested feature that, frankly, should have been there at launch.

As detailed by the Japanese support page (english patch notes are not yet available at the time of writing), you can now alter the alarm time and mode for each day of the week. This was a major sticking point for us when we first reviewed the device, but Nintendo has finally come through with this much-needed update.

Chrono Trigger’s Lifetime Sales Have Now Surpassed The Five Million Mark

How about a modern Nintendo version?

The legendary 1995 role-playing game Chrono Trigger is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary, and as part of this, Square Enix has provided a sales update.

According to an official post on its website, combined sales (across all platforms) since the game’s original Super Famicom release have now surpassed over five million copies worldwide.
