It’s been confirmed that Summer Game Fest will return this year with a 2-hour showcase taking place on 6th June at the YouTube Theatre in Los Angeles.

Following this, a ‘Play Days’ hands-on event will take place from 7th-9th June in which media and influencers can experience new and upcoming games from over 40 attending publishers.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate is getting DLC! We knew this already, of course, but today Super Evil Megacorp has revealed our first proper look at it, introducing the roguelike’s newest playable character: Casey Jones.

The ‘Casey Jones & The Junkyard Jam’ DLC is set to land on Switch on 5th February, bringing with it the Turtles’ hockey-mask-wearing pal, a new stage and a fresh wave of enemies to take out along the way.

Japan’s Switch eShop Will Soon No Longer Accept Overseas Payment Methods

Change will come into effect in March.

Nintendo has announced that the Japanese Switch eShop will soon no longer accept overseas credit cards or PayPal accounts as valid payment methods.

As reported by VGC, the change will come into effect from 25th March 2025, with Nintendo citing “fraudulent use” as a main contributing factor behind the decision. It has not elaborated beyond this, but it’s well-known at this point that many overseas Switch owners like to utilise the Japanese eShop for games that either aren’t available elsewhere, or perhaps might be cheaper than their regional equivalent.

Surprise! Capcom’s First Showcase Of 2025 Is Airing Next Week

We’re almost out of January, and Capcom is officially getting its year underway with the announcement of a special “spotlight” showcase taking place next week on 4th February.

This broadcast will be broken up into two segments – there’s the main show, running for 20 minutes, and this will be followed immediately by a 15-minute Monster Hunter Wilds showcase.

In all honesty, we’ve been thinking about this for years, arguably since before we knew that Mario Kart 8 would be getting a Deluxe reprieve and assumed the new hotness on Switch would be totally new. Don’t get us wrong — Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is an astonishing product, and we’re huge fans of the enormous Booster Course Pass DLC, but we’ve been playing the same game in some form for over a decade now and we’re jonesing for a fresh take.

If you have been holding off picking up last year’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind until a boxed edition punched its way into view, you’re in luck! Today, Digital Eclipse has announced just that, with a Standard and Deluxe edition available to pre-order right now.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket‘s hotly-anticipated Trade feature is finally live in the mobile app. Those who have been waiting to swap cards with their pals can now do so, but there’s a catch: it’s a real headache.

As with everything TCG Pocket, Trading is all about consumable items and currency. We’ve known for a while that you’ll only be able to trade cards with friends, and those trades can only be cards of the same rarity, but a lengthy tutorial when you first open up the new feature explains there are a bunch more rules to keep in mind.

Final Fantasy Creator’s Next Script Is Already Done

Update: He’s apparently working on “part two” of his farewell note.

Following the recent release of Fantasian Neo Dimension for Switch, the Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi is now focused on his future.

In the same Famitsu interview with Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii, Sakaguchi revealed how he won’t be calling time on his career any time soon. Instead, he provided an update about his “new project”, which is believed to be a new “dark fantasy” title from Mistwalker.

PlayStation Is Bringing MLB The Show 25 To Nintendo Switch This March

Continuing the trend, Sony’s PlayStation team San Diego Studio has today announced MLB The Show 25 will be arriving for Nintendo Switch on 18th March 2025.

This year’s version celebrates the series’ monumental 20th anniversary – “a milestone that honors two decades of baseball history, innovation, and unforgettable memories for baseball fans around the world”. This particular entry will feature three cover athletes including Paul Skenes, Elly De La Cruz, and Gunnar Henderson.
