Cyber Monday Deal: Nextorage 1TB PS5 SSD with Heatsink for $99.99

There’s an interesting story behind Nextorage Japan. Nextorage describes itself as a company that was “created by a group of ex-Sony engineers and staff with over 20 years of experience in the development of memory and storage products”. Nextorage was actually originally created by Sony in 2019 as an SSD sub-division about a year before the PS5 was released. Presumably this was to be the basis for an official SSD sold by Sony themselves. For whatever reason, Sony decided to ditch that idea and sold this business to another stakeholder in the company, Phison, in 2022. Phison is another large reputable company that specializes in solid state memory controllers. You’ll find their controllers in name-brand SSDs like Seagate, Corsair, and Sabrent. Under Phison, Nextorage Japan eventually accomplished the goal of releasing an SSD catered specifically for the PS5 console in the form of this product right here.

Cyber Monday Deal: Seagate Game Drive 2TB SSD with Heatsink $149.99

Now here’s an SSD you don’t see discounted often. The Seagate Game Drive is only the second SSD to be officially licensed for the PlayStation console. What that means is this SSD is pretty much guaranteed to work with your PS5 with no problems whatsoever. It’s pricier than the other options in this list, but it’s still a hefty discount off MSRP and the lowest price we’ve seen. Seagate is a very reputable brand.

Cyber Monday Deal: WD Black SN850X 4TB PS5 SSD for $229.99

The SN850X is the latest generation of WD’s flagship Black series M.2 SSDs. It’s easily one of the fastest SSDs on the market. There are only a few SSDs out right now that can match its speed. Off the top of my head, the only SSDs I can think of are the new Samsung 990 Pro and the SK Hynix P41 Platinum. The SN850X also makes for an excellent PS5 SSD. It is identical to the SN850P, which is an officially licensed PS5 SSD. The only caveat is that this particular model doesn’t include a built-in heatsink. That is easily remedied by picking up a PS5 heatsink off Amazon for $7.

Cyber Monday Deal: Corsair MP600 2TB PS5 SSD with Heatsink $110

Corsair is a very well known brand for DIY PC builders. Corsair makes some of the best gaming products on the market, and that includes solid-state memory like RAM and SSDs. The MP600 Pro is Corsair’s fastest M.2 SSD and the “LPX” model is “optimized for PS5” because it includes a rugged preinstalled heatsink that is slim enough to fit in the PS5 bay without any issues. We rated it the best PS5 SSD for 2023.

Cyber Monday Deal: Samsung 980 Pro 2TB M.2 SSD with Heatsink $119.99

Samsung SSDs need no introduction. They’ve made some of the most popular and reliable PS5 SSDs on the market. The 980 Pro has been out for a long time, way back in January of 2020. A testament to its reliability is the fact that Samsung didn’t feel any need to release any newer flagship model until only this year. In terms of performance, it’s no longer the fastest SSD on the market (the 990 Pro is), but it’s still a very fast drive. It certainly more than meets the minimum 5600MB/s speed requirement to be used as a PS5 storage upgrade, with speeds of up to 7,100MB/s.

All the Black Friday SSD Deals for your PS5 Console

What is a PS5-compatible SSD?

An SSD that expands your PS5’s storage is essentially the same SSD that goes into your gaming PC. However, because of the PS5 has certain requirements that must be met for full compatibility. These are:

• The SSD and its heatsink must fit in the PS5 drive bay (requirement)
• The SSD must have a PCIe 4.0 interface (requirement)
• The SSD should have a minimum read speed of 5600MB/s (recommended)
• The SSD should have a heatsink for proper cooling (recommended)

An SSD that is slower than 5,600MB/s should still work. In fact, if it’s close to the rated speed, you may never notice any difference. The reason Sony gives this recommendation is that the stock SSD that comes with the PS5 is rated at 5,600MB/s. If you add a slower SSD, you will bottleneck your stock SSD.

Likewise, you may not need a heatsink. SSDs are rated for higher temps than what you’d normally expect to achieve even inside a PS5 that’s running fult tilt. However, there’s no real airflow around the SSD bay and SSDs do get pretty hot. We’d recommend getting a preinstalled heatsink or installing one yourself for peace of mind and potentially to prevent thermal throttling and extending the lifespan of your SSD.

Can I use this SSD in my gaming PC?

Absolutely! PS5-compatible SSDs will work with any PC with an available M.2 slot that supports PCIe 4.0 M.2 solid state drives. In fact, if you get a PS5-compatible SSD, you’re essentially guaranteed to get an SSD that’s going to perform extremely well because of the higher rated speed.

Walmart’s Cyber Monday sale officially goes live at 4:00 PM PT today, but you can still pick up plenty of Black Friday console bundles such as the PS5 Slim Spider-Man 2 and Modern Warfare III bundles, along with its own custom Black Friday bundle deals on Xbox Series X. Walmart’s Black Friday deals are still live, with plenty of console bundles on sale for anyone in the market for a new gaming machine. This selection includes the new PS5 slim bundles with a free game (Modern Warfare 3 or Spider-Man 2), plenty of Diablo 4 Xbox Series X bundles, as well as deals on the Xbox Series S and even Nintendo Switch OLED. Conveniently, the best Black Friday TV deal is also at Walmart, a Sony Bravia 65″ OLED for $1398. With 120Hz refresh, it’s the perfect TV for the current crop of 4K consoles.

PS5 Slim with Spider-Man 2 or Call of Duty Console Bundle for $499 (Save $70)

Note that this is the brand-new slim model of the PS5, which is pretty cool on its own. But if you were to buy these items separately, they’d cost you $569. These are currently on sale for Cyber Monday for $499.

PS5 Slim Vertical Stand

Believe it or not, Sony isn’t including a vertical stand in the new PS5 slim models. So if you want to set it vertically in your entertainment stand, you’ll probably want to pick up this $29.99 accessory. It’s kind of annoying that it’s an add-on, but it’ll keep your slim standing.

Walmart Xbox Series X and S Cyber Monday Deals

If you’re on Team Green (that’s what I’m calling Xbox fans; I think it’ll catch on), you can save a bundle on new console… bundles… at Walmart as well. Check out what’s available above and grab whichever one strikes your fancy.

If you could use a new Nintendo Switch for yourself or someone on your list this year, you might as well get a free game with it. Walmart has the standard Switch holiday bundles (featuring a game + 3-months of Switch Online), but it’s also offering a Switch OLED bundle that includes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for $359 as well.

Will We See PS5 Slim Digital Cyber Monday Deals?

So far, we haven’t seen any offerings for the PS5 Digital edition, only bundles for the disc-version. In fact, we haven’t even seen it listed anywhere at any configuration. Since the PS5 launched, the few instances where we’ve seen deals have always been on the disc version, so if you’re holding out for the digital PS5 deal, honestly, you might just want to bite the bullet and grab one of the PS5 slim disc editions on sale instead.

DualSense Controllers have once again dropped to their sale price of $49, a reasonable $20-$25 discount depending on which color variant you choose. Opting for controllers like the Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, Galactic Purple or Gray Camo is your best bet as these are some of the most popular, tend to sell out during sale events, and cost the most at $74.99 MSRP — so buying at this at the $49 Cyber Monday offer will maximize your savings.

Walmart’s Cyber Monday deals also feature some exciting discounts for Apple users. Right now, you can save on the 2nd generation Apple AirPods Pro (both versions with a Lightning charging port and USB-C charging port) and the brand-new Apple Watch Series 9. The latter’s price has dropped down $50 on both the 41mm and 45mm models, so you can pick them up for $349 and $379, respectively.

Sony has revealed what could be its final PS5 2020 model bundle as part of its Cyber Monday sale across most online retailers. You can currently purchase the new Spider-Man 2 console bundle for $499, a noteworthy discount considering Spider-Man 2 launched only last month and typically still costs $70 MSRP.

But, this new bundle hasn’t stopped Sony from kicking off its new ‘slim’ model with a Cyber Monday deal as well, with the new PS5 Slim Spidey bundle now in stock at Amazon and Best Buy. In other Cyber Monday news, DualSense controllers have returned to their sale price of $49 (see here), a reasonable $20-$25 discount depending on which color variant you choose. This even includes the shiny new Cobalt Blue and Volcanic Red controllers, alongside other popular $75 picks like Galatic Purple and Grey Camo.

GameStop has also got a great deal on the controllers, matching that $49.99 price if you decide to click & collect. This is another great option if you have a store nearby and don’t lose too much on the gas to get there as well.

Should You Shop Early Cyber Monday Deals?

The answer to this is always: it depends. Cyber Monday has become something of a misnomer over the past few years and typically spans the whole of November rather than just a few days. Deals begin to crop up early these days, and that can leave many of us wondering whether or not these offers are actually worth taking advantage of — or whether it’s best to actually wait until Cyber Monday itself.

For these PlayStation deals, we highly recommend taking advantage of them right now. Getting a free game like Spider-Man 2 or Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 — which are both $70 MSRP — with a new console is no joke, and will likely beat any other others we may see on the PS5 in the coming days. For example, the most significant PS5 deal we’ve seen in 2023 was a $50 discount. While that’s a good offer, it doesn’t quite measure up to the money-saving value offered by these latest bundles. If you decide to wait on more deals, check out the IGN Store in the meantime for plenty of Spider-Man goodness.

DualSense controllers are also currently available at their lowest price of $49, which has consistently been the discount price since Cyber Monday last year and also during the PlayStation Days of Play sales in 2023. We highly doubt that these will drop any further. Plus, all of these deals are randomly selling out, which means you can’t rely on stock even if they are discounted further at a later date. So, for now, go nuts with these latest PS5 discounts and relish in the fact that you’ve scored a real early Cyber Monday deal. Better safe than sorry.

It’s down to $30 on PS4, or $40 on PS5, and these are both tremendous discounts going into the holiday season. This is the perfect gift for any fan of the wizarding world. We gave Hogwarts Legacy a 9/10 in our review – stating: “In nearly every way, Hogwarts Legacy is the Harry Potter RPG I’ve always wanted to play. Its open-world adventure captures all the excitement and wonder of the Wizarding World with its memorable new characters, challenging and nuanced combat, and a wonderfully executed Hogwarts student fantasy that kept me glued to my controller for dozens of hours.”

Metal Gear Solid – Master Collection Vol. 1 Cyber Monday Deals

Here’s one where you get to go: ‘It should’ve been that price in the first place!’ — Well, we’ll let you have your fun. The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Cyber Monday deal isn’t something to write home about, but it’s the best way to play the classic games on modern consoles right now, and it does come with a lot of content. So, at $39.99, you’re getting a reasonable deal here. It’s not getting any cheaper, either, so this is the best offer you’re going to get.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Cyber Monday Deals

Yes, we gave Modern Warfare 3’s campaign a 4/10 (and its multiplayer a 6/10). No, that doesn’t mean this specific IGN writer (hi!) is going to tell you not to buy this game — you can make your own minds up. But, if you are interested, the latest Call of Duty entry is over $10 off in the Cyber Monday sale, which is likely the best deal we’re getting if you’re looking to play the game over your winter break.

Sonic Superstars Cyber Monday Deals

The latest game in the long line Sonic titles is Sonic Superstars, and while this latest entry isn’t getting the same attention as last years break from the formula Sonic Frontiers, it’s still one of the top selling games on Amazon right now during the Cyber Monday sales. At $35, a $25 discount compared to the $59.99 MSRP, this is a great deal. We gave Sonic Superstars a 7/10 in our review – stating: “Sonic Superstars has a mix of both interesting and ill-advised new ideas, making it an enjoyable Sonic game but not exactly a Super one.”

Star Wars Jedi Survivor Cyber Monday Deals

Walmart is currently the king of Black Friday discounts, as it also has Star Wars Jedi Survivor for just $30, which is a whole $4.99 less than every other retailer right now. This puts Jedi: Survivor at over 50% off, which is one of the best Cyber Monday deals we’ve seen this year. If you haven’t had the chance to pick up Cal’s latest adventure, this is a great opportunity to do so. We gave the game a 9/10 in our review.

Diablo 4 Cyber Monday Deals

One of the best games of the year, Diablo 4, is down to just $50 this Black Friday. It’s not a huge discount, but it’s still a significant one. If you haven’t had the chance to pay the incredible ARPG just yet, well this is the perfect opportunity. We gave the game a 9/10 in our review – stating: “Diablo 4 is a stunning sequel with near-perfect endgame and progression design that makes it absolutely excruciating to put down.”

God of War Ragnarok Cyber Monday Deals

One of the standout games from 2022 was God of War Ragnarok. If you haven’t played this game yet, then you’re missing out — it’s truely incredible. We expected this title to pop up among the deals for Cyber Monday this year, and we’re just very excited that the 50% discount has gone live so early. The Last of Us Part 2 Cyber Monday Deals

Here us out, as this is a great deal. If you’re interested in The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered but haven’t bought the core game yet — you should get this deal. It’s down to $19.99 for the physical copy from PS Direct, and this is $20 less than every other retailer right now.

This is a big deal as those who already own The Last of Us Part 2 on PS4 will be able to upgrade to a digital remastered version on PS5 for just $10 on January 19. Save files will also be able to be imported into Part 2 Remastered. Naughty Dog also clarified that upgrades for disc copies of the PS4 version are only available if you have a PS5 with a disc drive.

EA Sports FC 24 Cyber Monday Deals

We might complain about it, but FIFA and now EA Sports FC are some of the best-selling games every single year — so there’s definitely still an appeal out there for happy gamers. If you haven’t had the chance to pick up the world-leading soccer sim just yet, well you’re in luck as it’s 57% off in the Black Friday sales.

Currently available for just $29.99 at retailers like Best Buy, this is a great deal and likely the best offer we’re getting on the game until it inevitably ends up on EA Play and Xbox Game Pass come May or June 2024. If you don’t want to wait until then, we suggest bagging this deal this Black Friday and Cyber Monday. For digital owners, the game is down to $34.99 on PS5 but you can also save 10% on PS credit right now; so ensure you use that before making any purchases.

Let’s be honest, this is probably the price it should’ve been in the first place, rather than a whole — checks notes — $70? Well, at least it’s come down quite heavily in price now to $39.99. If you were hoping for any further discounts, you’re out of luck as this is the best we’re getting. Still, we think this is quite a good deal for the perfect version of one of the best games ever made. Assassin’s Creed Mirage Cyber Monday Deals

Assassin’s Creed Mirage has dropped to just $39.99 in the Black Friday sales across most retailers. This is the best deal we’re getting on Mirage, otherwise you can always opt for the Deluxe edition at $44.99 instead. We gave the game an 8/10 in our review – stating: “Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s back-to-basics approach is a successful first step in returning to the stealthy style that launched this series.”

Street Fighter 6 Cyber Monday Deals

What can we say, Capcom has been releasing some absolute gems lately, and the Black Friday deals are good as well. Just like its Capcom brother RE4, Street Fighter 6 is down to $30 at Walmart. We gave the game an amazing 9/10 in our review – stating: “Street Fighter 6 is the most feature-rich a Street Fighter has ever been at launch, but even beyond that, it’s roster of 18 characters is excellent, the new mechanics revitalize the one-on-one fighting formula, and it absolutely nails all of the little things that make for a stellar fighting game.”

Mortal Kombat 1 Cyber Monday Deals

If you prefer your fighting games to feature significantly more blood and gore, then Mortal Kombat 1 is the one for you. It features fast-paced fighting, plus significantly more murder than you’ll find in the likes of Street Fighter 6. It didn’t come out long ago, but it’s already on sale for just $40. Resident Evil 4 Cyber Monday Deals – Out of Stock

Walmart’s Black Friday sale is now on, and boy it’s brought with it some incredible discounts. $30 for a Game of the Year contender is a great deal, and this is absolutely the best offer we’re going to get this Black Friday weekend. We gave the remake a Masterpiece 10/10 in our review – stating: “The Resident Evil 4 remake is the series’ most relentlessly exciting adventure rebuilt, refined, and realized to the full extent of its enormous potential.” This is such a great deal on such a great game, and we’re convinced it’s going to sell out before the Cyber Monday sales next week. RE4 is also our top pick for the best Xbox games for Black Friday as well.
