Community: Did We Miss A Switch Game You Love? Send Us Your Recommendations

Slipped through the net.

Oh, hello there. You must be here for our bi-annual Games We Missed callout.

It’s a familiar story. Loads of Switch games — too many, perhaps — and while the majority of the eShop deliveries each week are a load of old AI-generated pap, there’s also a load of great games which, unfortunately, we just aren’t able to cover with a review.

Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (5th October)

Is there an echo in here? in here..? in here……?

Well folks, another week and come and (almost) gone, and it’s been another fun-filled one in the world of Nintendo.

First up, our preview for Super Mario Party Jamboree went live and we think it’s looking absolutely fabulous so far. We also got a look at a rather fetching Zelda Switch Lite which had been modded to include an OLED screen, hall effect joysticks, and a bigger battery.

Video: Here’s A Look At The Latest LEGO Horizon Adventures Switch Trailer

Out this November.

Last month during Sony’s State of Play broadcast, a new trailer was released for LEGO Horizon Adventures alongside the release date.

Nintendo of America has now shared the official Switch version of this trailer ahead of the game’s 14th November 2024 release date. It still looks quite stunning on the Switch, but we don’t know what the performance will be like on the hybrid platform.

Talking Point: How Would You Fix Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom’s Most Frustrating Feature?

Natural selection.

We’ve been playing The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom pretty consistently over the past week and it’s safe to say we’re really rather fond of it. Sure, the frame rate could be improved (not that it bothers everybody) and the lock-on can be a little fiddly, but overall it’s a jolly good time and a fine return for top-down Zelda.

There is, however, one issue that we’ve come up against time and time again. A single thorn amongst the roses that makes every piece of adventuring feel more like a chore than it really should. We’re talking about that darn Echo selection menu.

Ubisoft’s Disastrous 2024 May Lead To The Company Going Private

It lost half of its market value this year alone.

Tencent and the Guillemot family are reportedly considering taking Ubisoft private as part of efforts to stabilise the company amid a tumultuous 2024.

Acording to Bloomberg, both parties have reportedly been speaking with advisors on how best to bolster Ubisoft’s value after multiple gaffs over the last 12 months lead to a tumbling share price. Ubisoft has lost half of its market value this year, but news of this potential buyout has resulted in a sharp increase of around 33%.

Random: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Glitch Lets You Play As Link For Even Longer

Homecoming hero.

While we have been having a wonderful time with The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom over the past week, there’s no denying there are certain parts which are a little broken. Speedrunners have already uncovered a way to polish off the latest adventure in under an hour, and now, a new glitch has been found which lets you explore Hyrule as Link.

As demonstrated in the above video from YouTube account alyo, the glitch utilises a similar Sign Echo loophole that has the speedrunning community all excited. By creating a save file in the opening section of the game (where you play as Link as standard), and then beating the first dungeon, a well-placed Sign will cause all sorts of havoc, including, it seems, sending the titular princess to the subbench.

Poll: Resident Evil 6 Turns 12 – Does It Really Deserve Its Dire Reputation?

Misunderstood, or just a mess?

Believe it or not, there was once a time when survival horror was well and truly on its arse.

Around 2012, Capcom was shepherding its flagship Resident Evil franchise in a much more action-oriented direction, Konami had seemingly left Silent Hill to rot (until the spectacular P.T demo would provide some welcome, but temporary respite), and EA’s Dead Space 3 was shaping up to be a mere shadow of its excellent predecessors.

Dragon Quest’s Creator Criticises ‘Mistranslation’ Of DQ3 Remake Costume Comments

It continues.

Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii and former Shonen Jump editor Kazuhiko Torishima, co-hosts of radio show KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku, have addressed the recent controversy surrounding comments made by the pair on a talk show appearance during Tokyo Game Show 2024.

According to the statement, the pair’s comments — which focused on frustrations over changes that add more modest clothing to Akira Toriyama’s original character designs for the upcoming Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake — were both mistranslated and sensationalised by overseas media outlets (thanks, Automaton).
