Kid Icarus returns.
The Nintendo Music app has been pumping out all sorts of soundtracks so far this year and following a Pokémon update last week, we’re now jumping back to the glory days of the NES with the original Kid Icarus game.
This album, as you might expect, is a lot smaller than the previous update – with just 12 tracks and a total runtime of 13 minutes. Here’s the full list of songs including bangers like “Stage 1” and “Reaper’s Theme”:

SAG-AFTRA hits back.
Voice acting union SAG-AFTRA has filed an unfair labour practice charge against Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite, and Llama Productions, the game’s signatory company, for using an AI-generated voice of James Earl Jones to portray Darth Vader in-game.
In a statement posted on its website (via gamesindustry.biz), SAG-AFTRA says it “celebrate the right of our members and their estates to control the use of their digital replicas and welcome the use of new technologies”, however, its issue lies with Epic Games and Llama Productions’ choice to “replace the work of human performers with A.I. technology.”

The very best Switch 2 games coming soon.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is finally (almost) here, and a new console means a whole new slate of exciting video games. Nintendo’s next generation of hardware is coming out of the gate strong with an incredible 23 launch games, among which includes long-awaited ports such as Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, alongside the titanic Nintendo first-party launch game in Mario Kart World.
Beyond that, there’s plenty of juicy games coming to the Switch 2, including Donkey Kong’s big, brand new game, a new Hyrule Warriors game, and a FromSoftware exclusive in 2026. And we’re sure Nintendo has more and more to announce as we go through the year — so we’ll be keeping this list as up to date as possible

Good vibrations.
If you have ever lost one of your Switch 1 Joy-Con, there’s every chance that you will have seen the ‘Search for Controllers’ feature in action. This menu in the ‘Controller’ settings lets you select any paired controller that you know is in the room somewhere, and make it vibrate, so you can track it down in a pocket, down the back of the sofa, or accidentally left in the fridge when you got up to grab a mid-game snack.
Switch 2 boasts a similar feature, but, with the introduction of HD Rumble 2, it makes the controllers even easier to track down. That’s because the new Joy-Con can now output sound at a pretty impressive volume, all through the magic of vibrations.

But don’t get your hopes up.
Nintendo always seems to renew its trademarks at the juiciest of times. While these renewals are rarely anything to get excited about, a little bit of speculation never hurts. Especially with a new console looming.
As brought to our attention on BlueSky by @Stealth40k, Nintendo has today renewed the trademarks for the Wii’s Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and the DS’ Metroid Prime: Hunters. With Prime Remastered making a surprise appearance on Switch back in 2023 and Prime 4 set to land on Switch 2 at some point this year, it’s only natural to let a little bit of excitement take hold when two more series additions are mentioned in the same breath, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.

“It doesn’t take itself too seriously… the inspiration is basically my life”.
At PAX East, we had a chance to sit down with the lively Nico Papalia and Top Hat Studios – developer of Athenian Rhapsody, and its newly-announced prequel, Tales of Tuscany (releasing on “whatever you play games on,” including Switch, in 2026).
We wanted to learn a bit more about what inspired such a mad-cap universe, and where the WarioWare / EarthBound / Pokémon-esque ideas all stemmed from. While it was a bit of a challenge to talk over the raucous laughter coming from the crowd gathered at the demo booth, we managed to get an inside glimpse at Papalia’s surprising backstory and his work on both games.

Leading the pack.
There’s been a lot of conversation about Nintendo making Mario Kart World its main launch title for the Switch 2 ahead of certain other key franchises.
Nintendo of America’s Nate Bihldorff provided an official response about this to Inverse last month, mentioning how it’s “one of the most broadly accessible games possible” with a high skill ceiling as well as an easy entry level for all ages.

The GameCube library returns next month.
The Switch 2’s Online Expansion Pack tier is getting the GameCube library at launch and alongside this Nintendo will be releasing a new wireless GameCube controller, based on the original design with added buttons.
It’s now released a video on its Nintendo Today! mobile application, giving fans a closer look while also highlighting some of the additional buttons on the top of the controller including the ZL button, and various other Switch 2 buttons.

Here’s what you can expect.
Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time arrives on the Switch next week and ahead of release Level-5 is rolling out an early access update on select platforms, bumping the game up to Version 1.1.1.
This will be slightly different on the Switch front – with Version 1.1.0 apparently reflecting “some of the contents of this update” on 22nd May. The version that reflects “most” of the content will be released in the future as Version 1.2.0.
