Hot on the heels of the Halloween event, Splatoon 3‘s next Splatfest has been announced for just a couple of week’s time, with the upcoming three-team battle heading to the Splatlands from 18th-19th November.

Assassin’s Creed Publisher Ubisoft Axes 124 Jobs

Ubisoft Montreal cuts 98 positions in total.

Ubisoft is the latest company to lay off employees, with the French publisher’s Montreal studio (Assassin’s Creed) reportedly hit the hardest, cutting 98 jobs. In total though, Ubisoft is axing 124 jobs as part of a global company restructure.

Some of the positions impacted include administration and IT jobs, along with Ubisoft’s IT and SFX teams. It’s doing this to streamline operations and enhance the company’s overall collective efficiency. Notably, production teams won’t be impacted by this restructure:

Nintendo has announced that it is working on a live-action The Legend of Zelda movie with producer Avi Arad and director Wes Ball.

Shuntaro Furukawa Claims Recent ‘Switch 2’ Rumours Are Not Accurate

Here we go again.

Rumours of the Switch successor are hotting up by the day, though Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa seems keen to challenge the accuracy of the claims (thanks, Nintendo Everything).

In a recent financial call, the contents of which were written up on the Japanese site Mainichi, Furukawa dug into some of the latest ‘Switch 2′ discussions. Speaking to the claim that Nintendo’s follow-up console was showcased behind closed doors at this year’s Gamescom event, the company president stated, “The rumors online that appear to be public information are not accurate”. Nintendo Records Biggest Q1+2 Sales Figures Since Switch Launch

Mario Movie and other projects lend a hand.

Nintendo has today published its financial report for Q2 FY2024 and it looks like things have been going really rather well. On top of some meaty sales figures for the likes of Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin 4 and the Switch console itself, the report finds that Nintendo’s sales in the first half of the fiscal year have been “the largest since the launch of Nintendo Switch”.

Comprising sales from hardware, software and other “mobile, IP related income” like The Super Mario Bros. Movie, apps and the like, Nintendo’s ¥796.2 billion sales from Q1-Q2 this fiscal year have trumped all other first-half earnings from the Switch’s lifetime — which, when you consider that this console is knocking on its seventh anniversary, isn’t bad going.
