Chat about The Tartarus Key with us in the RPS Game Club today

I’m locked in here with you for the next RPS Game Club liveblog! From 4pm BST today, July 3rd, we’ll be chatting about The Tartarus Key. Come prepared to talk about your favourite puzzles, the ones that stumped you, and the weird horror themes you liked best. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed making the team play a tough puzzle game, especially one that’s intentionally retro and a bit spooky without being scary. So why not come and join in the discussion? Haha, that’s a joke: you don’t have a choice. As I said, you’re locked in here unless you can find the Resident Evil-ass key I have hidden in here somewhere. See you at 4pm, when we’ll be back to see how you’re getting on.

Xbox Storage Expansion Card Reaches Its Lowest Price Ever in the UK

While the discounts haven’t reached PS5 SSD levels of brilliance, the Seagate Xbox Storage Expansion Card, 1TB model, has dropped to its lowest price ever in the UK. It’s now available for £139 at Amazon and Currys, an additional £10 off its latest average list price. Its official RRP is still £219.99, but the expansion card has been sitting at £150 ever since the WD Black C50 card was released for the Xbox as well (also priced at £150).

As we’ve mentioned, this is nowhere near as good as the likes of the PS5 SSD discounts you can find at the moment, but it’s definitely still a good deal if you’re looking for some extra storage on your beloved Xbox console right now, especially if you’ve got the Series S which is rocking just 512GB of storage.

While we’re here, we’ll run you through the latest PS5 SSD deals as well, as it feels relevant enough for comparison’s sake. IGN’s favourite PS5 SSD the Corsair MP600 PRO LPX 1TB is down to £79.98 at the moment, but we’re expecting this to drop even further during Prime Day. Otherwise, our next best deal is on the Crucial P5 Plus 1TB (w/o heatsink) which has dropped to £56.99 at Amazon as well. Keep an eye out for more incredible deals in the coming days as Prime Day kicks off on July 11, or follow @IGNUKDeals to be kept in the know.

More Great Deals to Consider in the UK

Amazon Prime Day is coming up soon and will surely bring a whole slew of new gaming deals to check out. But, we’ve already got a great selection of early deals to check out right now as well. This includes one of our favourite deals of the year: 3-months of Audible for free if you’re a Prime Member. This is an awesome deal saving you £23.97 in total and grants you access to three audiobook tokens, and the entire Audible podcast library as well.

Should You Buy a Nintendo Switch on Amazon Prime Day 2023?

The Nintendo Switch has been on the market for 6 years now and has become one of the best-selling consoles of all time. Although there are rumors swirling about the next generation of Nintendo consoles, the Switch remains the best way to play most Nintendo games in 2023. Despite its age, however, there are rarely any actual discounts on the Nintendo Switch outside of sales events.

Amazon Prime Day is happening next week, and although we likely won’t see big discounts on Switch consoles, it is a surprisingly good time to save on Nintendo Switch games and accessories. Below are some details on what you can expect during Prime Day 2023.

What Nintendo Switch Deals Should You Expect on Amazon Prime Day?

While it’s possible that Amazon will be offering direct discounts on the Nintendo Switch and Switch OLED during Prime Day, history would suggest otherwise. If you’re looking to save money on a new Nintendo console, your best bet is likely going to be a bundle. Traditionally Amazon has a variety of different Switch bundles during sales events that are worth taking advantage of – the most popular one being the Mario Kart 8 bundle.

Outside of the consoles themselves, we will likely see some great Nintendo Switch games go on sale for under $30. Although we likely won’t see such discounts on newer games like Tears of the Kingdom, titles such as Breath of the Wild and Mario Party Superstars will most likely be on sale. Amazon has also offered various buy 2 get one free sales that have applied to games as well.

If you already have a Switch and are just in the market for some of the best Switch accessories, Prime Day is usually a good time to find both third-party controllers, cases, SD cars and other add-ons for a discounted price.

Do Other Retailers Have Nintendo Switch Deals on Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon isn’t the only one with a Prime Day sale planned for next week. Both Best Buy and Walmart will be having sales events during the same time period that will likely have similar discounts on Switch bundles and games. Walmart especially tends to have a fairly decent selection of popular Nintendo Switch games that get discounted during shopping holidays.

Although the discounts between retailers will likely be similar, keep an eye out for differences between bundles depending on the retailer. Amazon will often bundle consoles with various different third-party accessories and these may differ at Best Buy or Walmart. The games that are on sale sometimes differ as well between retailers.

Should You Buy a Nintendo Switch on Prime Day or Black Friday?

The short answer is that you should buy a Nintendo Switch whenever there’s any kind of sale, regardless of the time of year. Amazon will likely offer the same console bundles on Prime Day as it will on Black Friday, so there’s no real reason to wait if you’re in need of a Nintendo Switch.

That being said, there are sometimes some unique bundles and promotions during Black Friday that you won’t find any other time of the year. They usually includes additional games or accessories for free, but quantities tend to be limited. As always, do your research into the seller before you make a purchase.

Feature: Donkey Kong Cymru: The Extremely Brief History Of Welshness In Nintendo Games

Hiraeth of Hyrule.

It’s a uniquely Welsh experience. I’ve never been Scottish, or Irish, or Latvian, but those that have inform me when you tell someone where you’re from, the response typically isn’t “What’s that?”.

For the Welsh, that basic icebreaker question from anyone outside the UK usually prompts a deep breath and, regardless of whether you’ve got the time, a brief structured lesson on geography, history, and the world’s coolest flags. Wales, to most of the world, is a silent enigma. A country without footprint.

Homeworld 3 developer update introduces the “flavor layer”

Homeworld and its sequel were real-time strategy games that stuck in the memory mainly due to the atmosphere they managed to create via dialogue, music choices and striking ship designs. I had mentally labelled coming sequel Homeworld 3 as “more of the same, but better looking”, without thinking much more about it.

A new development update from developers Blackbird Interactive doesn’t so much prove me wrong as go into great detail about what “better looking” really means – while also making me excited about the new “flavor layer” of ship-to-ship communication.
