Taste Sweet Victory with Special Edition Xbox Oreo Cookies and Delicious Prizes

When it comes to making the most out of playtime, Xbox knows there’s more to the gaming experience than just what’s onscreen. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Oreo — the world’s number one cookie — to bring a new level of playfulness to Xbox. Featuring six embossed custom cookie designs and both exclusive in-game and real-world prizes, this partnership will let gamers taste victory in the form of Oreo’s beloved cookie-and-creme combo. 

For the first time ever in 22 countries, Oreo will be releasing special edition packs with multiple new cookie designs, bringing together the iconography of Xbox with the deliciousness of Oreo. These limited-edition cookies will bear the Xbox logo, as well as the iconic A, B, X, and Y controller buttons alongside a directional arrow. By scanning the Oreo Xbox Special Edition cookies and by cracking exclusive cookie combinations, inspired by the cheat codes hidden in games throughout history, fans can unlock a range of prizes. 

Entering the baked-in symbols in the correct sequence can unlock exciting, exclusive Oreo-themed in-game content, such as armor packs and vehicle skins for popular titles like Forza Horizon 5, Sea of Thieves, and Halo Infinite. Additionally, participants will be entered into the draw to win prizes ranging from custom Oreo hardware, Xbox consoles, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate memberships, and a holiday experience for the whole family, subject to regional availability.

Happy new year readers! Okay, so we’re over a week into 2023 already — you might be moving on from last year, trying to look ahead to the best to come. But we just need to look back at 2022 one last time for the best eShop games in December.

Now, December is normally a quiet month for game releases — but Nintendo had to drop five short little indie showcase videos in its festive House of Indies series right before Christmas. Some of those had shadow drops in them which made our wallets feel even lighter than usual at this time of year. We’re truly spoilt!

So, we’ve been mixing things up by celebrating the individual successes that each Zelda game has, and highlighting the incredible things that can be found in each one (even if the rest of the game is a bit duff). Hello folks, welcome to another edition of Box Art Brawl!

In our final edition of 2022, we took a look at the GameCube remake of Hideo Kojima’s stealth masterpiece: Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. As expected, the Yoji Shinkawa designed cover for the Euopean and Japanese variant took the lion’s share of the vote with 78%. That said, there were plenty of fans of the North American design who understandably thought that the stark red colour of Shinkawa’s effort was a tad garish.

Elden Ring Streamer MissMikkaa Simultaneously Defeated Two Malenias With a Dance Pad and a Controller

As if beating Malenia – arguably Elden Ring’s hardest boss – wasn’t a feat enough in itself, Twitch streamer MissMikkaa just beat two Malenias at one time with a controller and a dance pad.

MissMikkaa accomplished this astonishing feat during an “Ultimate Challenge Run,” where she tasked herself with playing “two Elden Rings games simultaneously with different controllers (Dance Pad & PS5 DualSense).” She also had to kill the “bosses on the same try on both game instances.”

It took her three days and 199 tries, but she prevailed in the end. She plans on taking down Radagon/Elden Beast next, and who knows what other challenges she will come up with in the future.

We spoke to MissMikkaa in November 2022 and she walked us through how she beat Elden Ring entirely with a dance pad, and this was even after she beat Malenia at level 1 with the same dance pad.

Malenia has been one of the toughest challenges in recent memory in the world of video games, and the difficulty of her battle inspired the rise of, alongside MissMikkaa and others, one of Elden Ring’s most legendary players, Let Me Solo Her. This player would appear in players’ games to take down Malenia single-handedly, and we also talked to them about how they became a hero to all.

Earl Boen, The Voice Of Monkey Island’s Captain LeChuck, Has Passed Away

Also known for his role in the Terminator movies.

A report from Variety has revealed Earl Boen – the original voice of Monkey Island‘s main antagonist Captain LeChuck – has passed away at the age of 81 after being diagnosed with stage four lung cancer late last year.

Apart from featuring in the Monkey Island series until 2010, Boen voiced characters and narrated games like World of Warcraft, Metal Gear Solid 2 (Sergei Gurlukovich), Baldur’s Gate and Psychonauts (Butcher).

Cyberpunk 2077’s class action lawsuit settlement has been approved

Cyberpunk 2077 launched in a sorry state, prompting rending of garments by gamers and a class action lawsuit from CD Projekt Red investors. That suit alleged that CDPR had “made materially false or misleading statements” regarding the game, particularly as related to the condition of its console release, and sought damages.

Now a proposed settlement has been approved by a federal judge in California’s Central District. The settlement reached will see CDPR pay out $1.85 million USD (around £1.52m GBP), or roughly $0.49 per eligible share.
