Rumour: Rare & Microsoft’s Sea Of Thieves Could Be Sailing Onto Switch

Plundered.

The Xbox and Microsoft rumours are flooding the news at the moment, aren’t they? And there’s another one sailing into view — Microsoft exclusive Sea of Thieves, developed by Rare, is reportedly being considered for Switch and PlayStation.

Giant Bomb and Game Mess Mornings host Jeff Grubb claims that he’s heard that “that was the one that might be coming to other platforms,” (via VGC). Speaking on Game Mess Mornings earlier today (above), 8th January, the host states that this, alongside rumours of an Xbox “critically-acclaimed” title also making the jump, shows that Microsoft “is kind of trying to rejigger its strategy”.

Fixes Implemented

Thanks to the hard work of Xbox engineers, we are happy to announce the following fixes have been implemented for this build:

Games

  • Additional fixes to address unexpected loss of saved game progress in various titles.

System

  • Various stability and performance fixes.

Known Issues

We understand some issues have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes. These items aren’t being ignored, but it will take Xbox engineers more time to find a solution.

Audio

  • We have received reports of users experiencing intermittent issues with audio across the dashboard, games, and apps. If you have experienced issues, be sure you have the latest firmware updates for your TV and other equipment. If you’re unsure, you may need to contact the manufacturer for assistance.
    • Note: If you continue to experience issues after applying the latest firmware updates, please submit feedback via Report a Problem immediately with the “Reproduce with advanced diagnostics” option, then select the category “Console experiences” and “Console Audio Output Issues”. Be sure to include as much information as possible:
      • When did the issue start?
      • Did you lose audio just in the game/app or system audio as well?
      • Does changing the audio format resolve the issue? If yes, what was the format before and after?
      • Does rebooting resolve the issue?
      • What does your setup include? Equipment, layout, etc.
      • And any additional information you can provide to reproduce the problem.

Networking

  • We are investigating reports of an issue where the console may not connect to their network as expected on boot. If you experience this, be sure to report the issue via Report a Problem as soon as you’re able.

Make sure to use Report a problem to keep us informed of your issue. We may not be able to respond to everyone, but the data we’ll gather is crucial to finding a resolution.

What Happens to Your Feedback

If you’re an Xbox Insider looking for support, please reach out to the community subreddit. Official Xbox staff, moderators, and fellow Xbox Insiders are there to help with your concerns.

When posting to the subreddit, please look through most recent posts to see if your issue has already been posted or addressed. We always recommend adding to threads with the same issue before posting a brand new one. This helps us support you the best we can! Don’t forget to use “Report a problem” before posting—the information shared in both places helps us understand your issue better.

Thank you to every Xbox Insider in the subreddit today. We love that it has become such a friendly and community-driven hub of conversation and support.

LEGO Fortnite Players Are Sharing the Devastating Moments Their Hard Work Crashes and Burns

LEGO Fortnite players are having some difficulties with their structures and flying vehicles crashing and burning after all the hard work they put into them — and they caught it all on video for all of Reddit to see.

A few players took to the LEGO Fortnite subreddit over the weekend to post videos capturing the moments their crafts headed towards disaster. To wit, u/OkaNitsuki shared a clip of themself jumping out of their plane because it was falling apart just as they were flying over the island.

Meanwhile, u/Elibenz936 had their rocket car explode while driving it on a long metal platform floating above the ground. “Was working pretty good for a while… and then pop,” they said in response to another Redditor who said the video hurt their heart. “Alas, this is the life of dynamic travel methods it seems lol if it hasn’t broken yet it will at some point.”

Another Redditor, u/Cafenn94, literally brought the house down when they supposedly tried axing the stairwell for parts only to have the ceiling and everything else crash down on their avatar.

While it’s easy to blame the game itself for the problems the players faced, some chalked their in-game disasters to poor planning on their part. When asked why they jumped out of their plane, OkaNitsuki said, “At that point of the build I was quite mad that the previous phases were similarly catastrophic, this one was working so flawlessly that when i saw the steering device die, I thought in my head ‘Yeah it’s about time I face the very same fate as this atrocity of a vehicle.’”

Elibenz936 suggested that the devs “Maybe make dynamic / toy objects be indestructible unless attacked by the player or an enemy. Hope they improve this in the future.”

This Slay the Spire-like made to teach a dev’s daughter maths looks like the best edutainment game I never had

If you’re like me, you probably have at least one treasured memory of being allowed to play an edutainment game at school under the guise of learning. What a blast, getting to play video games at school! For me, it was a floppy disk with a bizarre Pac-Man clone where you had to answer maths questions every time you ran into an enemy or obstacle. I’m sure for others it might be unforgiving classic Oregon Trail or globetrotting trivia quiz Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?

Cult of the Lamb’s Sins of the Flesh Update Has a Release Date

The highly anticipated Sins of the Flesh update for Cult of the Lamb hits PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch, and PC, on January 16.

Developer Massive Monster revealed the release date alongside the contents of Sins of the Flesh, which includes the culmination of a long-running fan campaign for what was dubbed the “sex update”.

Things don’t get explicit as in the likes of Balder’s Gate 3, however, which was described as “big budget horny” by a developer, but takes more of a Pokémon approach. “When two Followers love each other very much, they might find an egg,” Massive Monster said. “Nurture the egg for it to hatch, then care for the offspring until they’re ready to pledge allegiance to your Cult.”

Sins of the Flesh also adds a new progression system which promises “more depth and complexity”. “By following the sinful path, your followers will delight in gluttonous rituals, vain buildings and wrathful doctrines. Invite your most loyal Followers to the inner circle of Disciples, a revamped levelling system of Follower progression.”

Shiny poop, baneful brooms, and bigger, better buildings should also improve things for players. “Shiny poops have special effects, like yielding fruitful crops and adding experience to your broom,” Massive Monster said.

“Levelling up your broom will make chores faster and more effective. To improve automation, there’s also a new tier for the Janitor Station and the Storage Structures so your Followers will take better care of themselves.” The Blunderbuss weapon, which fires big damage in the short range or snipes enemies from afar when charged, will also be added.

Massive Monster has joked about adding a “sex update” to Cult of the Lamb for a long time, and after overwhelming interest from fans, finally said it would do it if 300,000 people followed its X/Twitter account. Fans hit this number and then some immediately, of course, leading to the inclusion in Sins of the Flesh.

Take Cult Customization to the Next Level in Cult of the Lamb’s Free Sins of the Flesh Update

Cult of the Lamb’s next free update is preparing to slither into our dimension on January 16. Sins of the Flesh is our biggest expansion yet, adding a bounty of wicked new content—including a new Sin resource that lets you perform the darkest Rituals yet. Whether you’re knocking back a cool glass of Poop Juice or sneaking into the Mating Tent, there are lots more ways to be bad in this unholy update.

There’s a cult-load of fresh, awesome stuff in Sins of the Flesh, but there’s one new feature in particular that leaders who love customizing their flock will get an extra kick out of. Joining Cult of the Lamb’s cast of eccentric characters is Berith, a silkworm clothes maker. After meeting them, a new upgrade in the Divine Inspiration tree will be revealed and will allow you to build a Tailor in your cult’s base.

You can then use gathered materials to craft new outfits for your followers, decking them out in the hottest occult fashion. Some outfits can be customized too, letting you switch between different colors and variants. Unlock new threads by embarking on Crusades or performing certain actions—such as sinking a heroic number of drinks at the Drinkhouse, a brand new base structure. Here a follower can become a bartender, mixing up drinks and serving them to the cult to generate Sin.

The Drinkhouse and other sinful new structures will earn you Sin, which can then be used to unlock Doctrines and perform some of the gnarliest Rituals Cult of the Lamb has ever seen. You can also make the most of love connections between followers and birth new ones in the Mating Tent—or just crack the egg and harvest the yolks, you monster. But wait, that’s not all Sins of the Flesh has to offer.

Thanks to a selection of savvy quality of life improvements, Sins of the Flesh also makes the day-to-day business of running your cult less of a chore. Now, as you clean up after your messy followers by sweeping up poop, vomit, and burnt food, your mop will gradually level up and become more powerful. The stronger it gets, the faster it sweeps. That’s right, baby: unlockable mops! Ten of ’em!

We’ll also accept thanks in advance for the new follower auto-level feature. When you declare a Doctrine or perform a Sermon or Ritual that upgrades your followers’ level of loyalty, anyone with a full loyalty bar will automatically upgrade to the next level. We’ve also sped up Sermons, added huge new high-level storage structures, and a heap of other new improvements designed to streamline your experience.

You can indulge in the Sins of the Flesh yourself when Cult of the Lamb’s newest, darkest update releases on January 16. Cult of the Lamb is available now for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

Indulge in the Sins of the Flesh in Cult of the Lamb’s next free update, out Jan 16

Sins of the Flesh is the next update for our darkly cute cult sim Cult of the Lamb, and it’s the biggest yet. As well as a shrine-load of killer new content and a congregation of quality of life improvements, a deliciously evil new resource has been thrown into the macabre mix: Sin. But how do you generate it? Well, by sinning.

Indulge in the Sins of the Flesh in Cult of the Lamb’s next free update, out Jan 16

The free Sins of the Flesh update adds a selection of decadent new structures to Cult of the Lamb, which when built in your base and enjoyed by you and your followers will reward your cult with lashings of delectable, so-wrong-it’s-right Sin.

Take the Drinkhouse, for example. Here a follower can volunteer to mix up drinks and serve them to your thirsty cultists. Terrifying treats on the menu include Brog Brew, Grape Nectar, Eggnog, and, uh, Poop Juice. Tasty! Imbibing these sugary beverages at the Drinkhouse has a risk of befuddling your followers, but every dubious drink they hurl down their adorable necks will generate sweet, sweet Sin.

You can also form a devilish Drum Circle with your followers, which will let you take part in Sins of the Flesh’s all-new rhythm-based minigame. The better your performance, the more Sin you’ll get in return. You’ve heard of Rock Band… this is Flock Band.

But let’s be honest: the real star of the update is the Mating Tent. If two of your followers are into each other, and have a sufficiently high love match, you’ll be able to send them into the tent together. A few seconds later they’ll emerge with an egg, which can either be harvested for food or, best of all, hatched into a tiny new follower. This dinky disciple will share some traits with its parents, and its birth can generate Sin.

Gather enough Sin and you can perform a series of new Rituals, including the free-spirited Rite of Lust. This will cause your followers to cast their robes aside and dance merrily around a flowery shrine. But if it’s chaos you desire, the new Rite of Wrath ritual might be more your speed. This unleashes a fury of violence, with fighting, killing, vandalism, and other scenes of havoc gripping your base.

This is just a brief, tantalizing taste of what you can do with Sin. There are other dark deeds to discover in the Sins of the Flesh update, including a selection of new Sin-based Doctrines and a troubling new food source that is not for the weak of heart—or weak of stomach. You can discover this, and more, for yourself (if you dare) when Sins of the Flesh launches for PS4 and PS5 on January 16.
