At The Game Awards, Nintendo and Illumination surprised fans with another look at the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
It features Bowser Jr. taking on Mario and Luigi in a very brief teaser. Some not-so-pleasant introductions are exchanged, and before you know it, the younger Bowser is smashing everything in sight. Fortunately, Luigi steps in to save the day (and Mario).
Thank You for An Unforgettable Year with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Guillaume Broche, Founder & Creative Director at Sandfall Interactive
What a year we’ve had together, right? Starting the year with the Xbox Developer_Direct team visiting our studio in Montpellier, launching the game onto Game Pass, Xbox consoles and PC in April, and the crazy months we’ve had since then has been a dream. And for that, we want to say:
Thank you.
We couldn’t have achieved any of this without the love and support of players around the world, and we genuinely want to thank our fans for everything they’ve given us. So, for that reason, we’ve been working on a brand-new free game update with several requested new features and content that we think fans will love. And best of all, it’s available right now.
Welcome to Verso’s Drafts
In our new update, players can explore a brand-new environment: Verso’s Drafts. It’s a whimsical storybook adventure with ties to a young Verso, and something that I think fans would not have expected. Bright colored fields of flowers, an enormous overflowing toy box, a Gestral fairground and more, we wanted to create an area that fans will think is refreshing, intriguing, and most of all fun.
After we launched our game, we noticed a lot of fans reaching out and asking us to make something that will let them spend more time with the characters they love – something with the whole party, including Esquie! So, when we were thinking about what kind of content we should work on as a thank you to the fans for this update, we figured we should do something that’s cheerful and feels like a welcome reunion with old friends.
Exploring this new area should feel kind of like returning to a childhood memory, only this time with your fellow Expeditioners. There are new secrets to uncover, new weapons and Pictos to unlock, and a lot more we think fans will really get a kick out of discovering for themselves, including a particularly dastardly new encounter with the most villainous of villains! We can’t wait for you to discover more about him…
Powerful New Adversaries
Players looking for more challenges after their adventure in Verso’s Drafts will find even more to look forward to with the new content. We’ve updated the Endless Tower with a few new enemies that should challenge players to rethink their strategies and test their parrying skills to the absolute limit. Our team has spent a lot of time spicing up these encounters, so we hope high-level players who feel like they’ve overcome all of our hardest encounters will get a kick out of what we’ve made here. And of course, if you manage to defeat these souped-up enemies, there are new rewards to unlock, because that’s kind of a given, right?
So, for every player who mastered fighting Simon and perfected their no-hit run strategies before… well, here’s a new set of challenges. Good luck – we think you’re going to need it.
And That’s Not All
We’ve really poured our hearts into this update to make it something major for fans to dig into. Verso’s Drafts, new end-game bosses, a whole new Photo Mode (that’s right, we didn’t even go into that here!), new costumes and haircuts to collect, new text localizations into seven additional languages, Lumina loadouts (yes, that too!), and more… the list goes on. We really want this update to say thank you to our fans for an incredible year.
Let us know what you think about the new update or share your best Photo Mode pics at @Expedition33 on X and @expedition33official on Instagram – we can’t wait to enjoy this with you.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 stormed The Game Awards 2025, winning all but two categories it was nominated in, including the main prize: Game of the Year.
Sandfall Interactive’s much-loved RPG won Game of the Year ahead of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Donkey Kong Bananza, Hades 2, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Accepting the Game of the Year award to rapturous applause, director Guillaume Broche thanked the “incredible team” at Sandfall Interactive, most of whom were in attendance and in costume. Broche extended his thanks to the “unsung heroes” of the video game industry, “the people who make tutorials on YouTube on how to make a game, because we had no idea how to make a game before.”
Broche went on to issue a personal thank you to Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, “who inspired me to become a game dev.” Broche ended his speech by announcing the shadow drop release of Clair Obscur DLC.
Clair Obscur also won Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score And Music, Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game, and Best RPG. Jennifer English won Best Peformance for her role in the game.
The only categories Clair Obscur was nominated in but failed to win were Best Audio Design, which went to EA’s shooter, Battlefield 6, and Players’ Voice, which went to Wuthering Waves. Still, it’s a remarkable result for the relatively small team at Sandfall Interactive, especially given Clair Obscur is its debut title.
Clair Obscur launched in April right up against Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, with both games hitting Game Pass as day one releases. It was felt that Clair Obscur might struggle under those circumstances, but it enjoyed instant and significant popularity, and would go on to sell 5 million copies by October.
IGN’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 review returned a 9/10. We said: “Wearing its inspirations on its sleeve, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 paints itself into the pantheon of great RPGs with a brilliant combat system and a gripping, harrowing story.”

As revealed at The Game Awards 2025, Capcom is bringing the Blue Bomber back with a new video game called Mega Man: Dual Override.
The first trailer for what will be the first new Mega Man game since 2018’s Mega Man 11 reveals a return to that classic 2D style that made the iconic hero famous. It’s unclear what other elements will return for Mega Man: Dual Override, with the footage mostly promising vibrant visuals and a promise to warp onto PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox consoles in 2027.
Little else is known about Mega Man Dual Override at the moment. While we wait for update, be sure to check out everything announced at The Game Awards 2025. You can also read the full list of all of the night’s winners. Developing…

That furious cyborg face in Geoff Keighley’s bottom was telling the truth! Creative Assembly are making Total War: Warhammer 40,000, a new era for Twar that looks to take the Total War strategy map/battle map format and apply it to whole solar systems. They got David Harbour to announce the game at the Geoffies just now. There was a moment of pure, ecstatic terror when I thought they were making Total War: Stranger Things. Harbour wouldn’t have left the stage alive. But no, don’t worry, he’s here because he’s voicing some unit or other. Catch a cinematic intro and just a tiny bit of footage in the announcement trailer, below.
Marvel Rivals is halfway through Season 5, but that isn’t stopping NetEase Games from revealing Deadpool as the first playable hero for Season 6 at The Game Awards 2025.
The Marvel Rivals Deadpool reveal trailer doesn’t come with any gameplay, but it did come with the promise that the Merc with a Mouth will launch for the popular hero shooter alongside Season 6: Night at the Museum January 16, 2026. It’s the earliest NetEase has been ready to show off one of its new heroes, with its trailer highlighting Deadpool’s new voice and design, as well as some of the other elements players can expect next month.
Marvel Rivals Season 6: Night at the Museum arrives January 16th, 2026 UTC. And yes – Deadpool is coming. Soon.
But first, the countdown continues: S5.5 launches on December 12th UTC.
🔥 The Merc and the Monster Hunter. Will the Museum survive?
Marvel Rivals Season 5.5 is currently underway. The latest season introduced Gambit as its first playable hero, with Rogue joining the fight on PC and consoles tomorrow, December 12.
For all of tonight’s biggest highlights, you can check out everything announced at The Game Awards 2025. You can also keep up with our running list of all of the winners.

The “future of Tomb Raider” has been dutifully revealed at this year’s Geoff Awards, and it turns out the future is half-future, half-past. Amazon Game Studios and Crystal Dynamics have announced a pair of Tomb Raider games – Tomb Raider: Catalyst, the next major new instalment in Lara Croft’s adventures, and the previously leaked Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis, “a fully reimagined version” of Core Design’s original Tomb Raider from 1996.
Lords of the Fallen II: Introducing the Bosses Revealed in the First Ever Gameplay Trailer
Ryan Hill, Lead Creative Strategist, CI Games
Summary
Lords of the Fallen II revealed its first gameplay trailer at The Game Awards 2025.
Find out more about three new bosses included in the trailer in our article.
The final major patch for Lords of the Fallen (2023) is also now live, bringing major updates – including a new Veteran Mode.
The next chapter in this dark fantasy saga is gathering strength. Revealed today at The Game Awards, we unveiled the first ever gameplay trailer for Lords of the Fallen II, the long-awaited new soulslike RPG, arriving in 2026.
The trailer offers a first glimpse at three colossal bosses, a host of new foes, refined combat, and story-driven moments that pull players deeper into the battle-scarred land of Axiom. Cinematic glimpses of torment are woven with brutal combat, giving a glimpse of the merciless journey ahead, in a world sharpened by suffering, shaped by ruin, and ready to strike back.
Bosses are a huge part of Lords of the Fallen II so, once you’ve watched the trailer, join us as we break down the Heartroot Warden, Koydreth, and Lingao, the Souring Storm, as well as some of the smaller enemies you’ll meet in between.
Strange New Foes
The trailer opens with the Dark Crusader stepping toward a four-armed horror with a hollowed head and a chest glowing with an eternal flame. This creature is the Ashen Skin Stealer, a new Rhogar foe born for dueling. These inhuman hunters carve and collect human skin as treasured trophies, though none know where this grotesque ritual began. They fight with single minded ferocity and take pleasure in the slaughter of their enemies.
Moments later, a knight in horned armour hurls himself across the arena with crushing force. This is a Heartroot Warden, the first of the three bosses revealed. His attacks are relentless and heavy, driven by a chain-wrapped great sword that punishes hesitation. Only the most honoured Trelisi warriors were chosen for the sacred rite that twisted them into these undying guardians, their bodies fused within enchanted armour and stripped of humanity.
Through trickery and evasion, a winged figure slips through a rune etched mirror. This is Koydreth, once the respected leader of the Crescent Host. He is the second boss introduced. Cursed for a sin so grave it reshaped him in body and spirit, he now rules the skies with a monstrous elegance. He moves like a predator, both majestic and savage.
The Dark Crusader then stands before a vast draconic head. Lightning splits the air as its jaws descend. This is Lingao, the Souring Storm, the third and final boss revealed. Lingao commands the fury of the skies, wielding wind and lightning with terrifying speed. His massive frame sweeps across the battlefield, attacking from every direction.
Elsewhere we witness the player fire a crossbow bolt into a frenzied attacker. This is the Man of Letters, once a scholar, now a feral shell consumed by Umbral corruption. They charge with no thought for survival, driven only by blind hostility.
Then emerges the Hysteric, wearing a wicked grin and carrying twin axes in elongated arms. Wild, erratic, and constantly shifting their style, they keep players guessing with every strike.
These foes are only the beginning. Each is bound to the histories, cultures, and tragedies that have shaped Axiom. With Lords of the Fallen II, the team at CI Games has pushed enemy design further than ever before.
Lords of the Fallen: New Veteran Mode
Today, Lords of the Fallen also receives its final major update, Version 2.5. This patch introduces extensive behavior upgrades to bosses, mini bosses, and enemies throughout Mournstead across both Normal and the new Veteran Mode. Veteran Mode heightens the challenge further, granting bosses new attack patterns, swifter transitions, and far more unpredictable assault chains. Several boss weapons have also been reforged with new signature animations.
Coming Next Year
Launching in 2026, Lords of the Fallen II aims to deliver a darker, more demanding experience than anything we’ve made before. With evolved combat, fearsome new bosses, and a world swallowed by ruin, the sequel promises to test the resolve of every player.
For Xbox fans, this marks a powerful evolution of the franchise. Greater threats, deadlier encounters, and more strategic combat await those willing to brave the horrors rising within Axiom.
Realm by realm, nation after nation, the Umbral darkness consumed all in Her path. Now, over 1,000 years later, only one Kingdom remains; a sacred land, shrouded by an ancient force. Or so it was…
Stolen by the Gods themselves, mankind is left forsaken, defenceless against the darkness. Unless this force is restored, the shadow of death will devour all. But how do you kill… an immortal?
A hero must rise, for a God to fall.
